Paint still looks a little damp

I need to get some 1x4, sand, prime/paint them to trim out the ceiling, but at this rate it'll never get done! :annoyed:

It's just a garage, I'm gonna dig through the pine to get some decent ones, sand them, oil prime, and pre-paint. The Dura-prime is ungodly expensive for what it is and I got plenty of DA sandpaper and primer. More labor, but I'm cheap.

Well I be darned. If you buy 10 or more or the primed it's 15% off which makes an 8' $7.85. I need 12, so I guess that's what I'll do

What the hell happened to lumber quality? Was looking for some sanded plywood at Home Depot, all looked like crap. Looking for some Baltic Birch plywood, 5’x5’ sheets, 1/2” ,9 ply , going to have to drive to Grand Rapids and buy from the real lumber yards

It's all grown so rapidly anymore. Old lumber used to actually look pretty, not the stuff they use now. At least the stuff out here on the East Coast. They still get some nice Douglass Fir out West, but us out here get yellow pine. :annoyed:

We still have one lumber yard that is still privately owned, I’ll check with them, before driving up to GR. West Michigan still has a large furniture manufacturing business’s, which helps but :spending:

We're also quite fortunate here. Many local and statewide lumber/contractor oriented stores/companies, three large ones with their own forest lands where they grow, harvest and mill up pine boards. Maine is the most heavily forested state.

We have one mill out in the country near where I left, probably the only one in the area. They'll make whatever you want, and prices are decent. @Gen1TacoLady used to go to them all the time.

I had to remake lots of the 1x trim in my 1920's house down south. They ripped that nice stuff out and used 713 smooth base and 324 smooth casing. Used pine as that's what was originally there. I did some shady stuff to get it home :anonymous:

Sample of what I re-created. Simple, but looked much better!
