Has anyone ever installed traction control in a 08 Tacoma. 09 was the first year it was offered I think.

VSC was offered on Pre 09 trucks.
It is more rare the earlier the truck years.

As for adding it. It seems like it would not be cost beneficial.
Likely need to find the correct ECM, wiring, and accessories.

My truck has nothing but ABS.
    Completely Open Diff (unless locked)
I just try to drive slow(er).

Interesting, I didnt know about this on early 2nd gens. So its the 4runner style electric brake booster that allows for TRAC or A-Trac, it was a fairly expensive option "VD"

I would say its not worth it without a donor vehicle. You need the master cylinder and VSC switches, yaw rate and steering angle sensor. The ECM might have to be changed as well.

I'd say a better set of tires is the best option.

You’d be better off with a mechanical LSD, ABS brakes, and some decent tires. The electronic traction control is more trouble than it’s worth.

Yup. 05-08 trucks had a VSC option which utilized the superior electronic boosted master cylinder that was only found on 09+ TRD or 4x4s

It's a pretty rare option to find on a pre 09 truck and it's pretty much impossible to add on unless you have a doner truck that you swap all the electronics for.

I have a 2009 with VSC and Auto LSD. Would rather have a rear locker.
But VSC seems to work well when I hit those corner to fast on purpose.

Did you ever get a solid answer on how to do it? I’m very interested in adding VSC to my truck as well.

As has already been stated it really wouldn't be feasible to add it to an 05-08 truck, it was a very rare option to see in the wild.

Brake system is completely different, wiring harnesses are different, ECM is different, and also Steering Angle & Yaw Rate Sensor's aren't present.

I know what I’m getting into, I just wanted a plan, and maybe a parts list. I already needed to upgrade the break booster anyway because I wanted a rear disc break conversion. ECM is about 600 dollars from Toyota. I’m just unsure of the rest of the parts needed, and I was hoping someone had done it so I could have an idea. So far I can’t even find a how to on YouTube, so I might be one of few to attempt, if so actually accomplish.
