Went to change pads and oil today and found my brakes are still at least half life. 70K on the clock. How many miles are you guys/gals getting on yours? 2020 Pro manual tranny. I guess the manual helps on wear.

I think I replaced the pads @ 120K, and shoes look like they'll go close to 200K.

I did pads and rotors at 40K miles. Had a good amount of pad left but had a braking vibration that went away with the new pads and rotors.

Brake pad life is directly related to operating temp…(corrosion issues notwithstanding). If you’re easy on ‘em…they last, if not, they don’t.

Last week, I took my 2021 TRD Sport in for 40k service and was told I will be needing new pads and rotors very soon to the tune of $399!! Can anyone suggest an aftermarket option that isn't so ridiculously expensive? I was looking at the "PowerStop Z36 Truck & Tow Brake Upgrade Kit" from Tire Rack for around $214 (https://www.tirerack.com/brakes/bra...coma+4WD&autoYear=2021&autoModClar=Double+Cab).

    Any thoughts?

First is to pull off a wheel and examine yourself. You could have lots of pad left and have had an attempted upsell

That a dealer price / service? Find a good indie shop and live mas.

My brother replace his front around 70k as well. He does 90% highway driving. I replaced both my 2nd & 3rd gen front pad around 45k with little life left. I have a lot of stop & go traffic. I guess everyone’s mileage will be different and depending on your driving condition.

I don’t know if you want to stay with OEM or not, but I put PowerStop on 18K miles ago and very happy with them.

No one told me to replace them. I thought at 70K they would near the end. Guess not.
Looks like a pretty easy job with the pins holding them in.

I usually change mine between 40 to 50K with new rotors just because I like to keep a smooth stop. I could wait longer but as I said I like a smooth stop.

Mine are about 3/16" left at 67k miles. I bought it used as CPO at 21k.

With manual trans I normally got 100k out of and OEM pads and rotors. The only aftermarket pads I've ever used before were Akebono and Hawk Performance.

Highly doubt you need pads/rotors at 40k. Inspect them yourself, or get 2nd opinion.
