This was dangling off and I pulled it off. It's important?

Just a front inner splash guard, it's meant to help keep water and road debris out of the engine bay. Not gona hurt anything to drive it for a bit until you can get it replaced.

    Clearly wasn't doing anything anyway.

I took mine off years ago. Took them off to run some wiring and never put them back on.

Supposed to keep debris from getting in the engine bay but I find kind of the opposite, with them off I get better access to wash things out. They probably do knock down the splashing but they aren't exactly airtight and dust and salt mist spray still coats everything behind them. So I like really being able to wash under there.

I don't think there's any absolute reason you need them or that you have to worry and not drive the truck until you get the clips or replacement flaps. They don't seem to factor significantly into the air flow for cooling or anything like that (and I wonder if they block some air flow in that sense). It's a cosmetic decision as much as anything.

It goes in the front fender well behind the tire and attaches with push in plastic clips. I can't recall if that's the driver or passenger side.
