Is it actually possible to replace the lower oil pan by lifting the engine up instead of dropping the front differential?

Looks like people have tried but has anyone been successful?

I have looked around since I need to replace this in my Tacoma too. I think the easiest way is to lift the engine. I did not see a way around this. A local shop will change the gasket for around $1500 due to the time required to change a $30ish part

Mine was replaced by slightly dropping the front differential.
