Sure you do, if you're actually a professional user of firearms doing something that involves carrying it loaded ready to go in the front seat with you. Maybe the OP was trying to live out a sweet delta force fantasy and was bailing out of the passenger seat to start whacking terries at the local gravel pit.

Of course the OP posts once or twice and then ghosts us without telling the story…

It doesn’t matter how it happens. At least OP had the muzzle down.

OP, you need to have the transmission fluid checked. Are you sure it was coolant?

Best I remember, there aren’t coolant lines under the truck. Those are ATF lines that go to the cooler. They don’t have coolant in them.

Buy a Tavor with 9mm and 5.56 kits.

But let me warn you. It’s over rated.
Yes, I have shot one. Money NOT well spent. Lesson learned.

Is negligent discharge a crime in any jurisdictions?

I'd certainly want the OP to be certain of the law before approaching his insurance company and/or repair facility.

Some places do not allow chambered inside a vehicle, at least not for civilians ... because of this. And discharge inside city limits (except for licensed firing ranges) is illegal in most places. Which is why people who "luuuuv to shoooot guns" buy 20 acres out in the country for their activities.

Trans cooler carries transmission fluid from the trans to a cooler in the front of the truck and then back again. It does not contain engine coolant.

Assuming the truck was on the ground, either bullet fragments or ground fragments probably bounced up and damaged areas around the actual hole. Guessing as each symptom appears will be a long road. Someone who knows what "normal" looks like needs time under the truck. My humble opinion.

Don’t let it get to you man.
If you leaned some thing from it. All is good.

It happened, no person was hurt, let’s get that truck fixed.

My internet is down. Once it gets back up. I’ll look up the codes and we can’t start there.

I’m on my phone now. And navigating service data on my phone is hard. I have the smallest iPhone they make. It’s not easy to “use” in certain circumstances.
