This post reminded me of something....
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/bamf-shackles.840798/

When I had my 2000 Xterra, I did the PML - Poor Mans Lift. It was a set of longer CalMini shackles out back and cranked torsion springs in the front. All in all you could lift an Xterra about 1.5" for $60. And the way they were built that allowed for some crazy great tire clearance.

I know we don't have torsion springs on ours so that rules out the PML for a Taco. But why aren't longer drop shackles more popular for lifting the back as part of a lift kit. I seem to see more spacers than anything else?

Just go look at your shackles and you'll understand.

LED interior, license plate, and fog lights. More to come.
Besides the design not being conducive to it, any lift where you move one end of your leaf spring will screw up your pinion angle.

The 3rd gen has an inverted shackle. Installing a longer one will lower the ride height. I suppose you could install a shorter one, but I’m guessing the geometry prevents it. In any case, no shackle lifts exist for the 3rd gen AFAIK. It’s better to install a block or a new leaf pack.
