I guess I’m starting a patch collection on the roof of my bed cap.

did you ever consider running 17 inch wheels to make something like a 285/70/17 SL tire work? I have a Tacoma similar to yours, rocking the Bilstein 5100s on setting 4 and an Icon AAL in the back. I have the stock 16in rims mine came with 265/75/16 Falken Wild Peaks on them. And I'm really trying to talk myself out of running an E rated tire at the moment bc I don't want to regear. My buddy is rocking a 4R with 17 inch tires and Wild Peaks... but in the 285/70/17 Wild Peaks SL rated tire.

Been following the build and I love it! You've given me a few great ideas.

Hey thanks for the kind words! I’m glad you’ve found some of the stuff useful. I considered 17’s for a little bit to have more tire options, but I haven’t ever considered going back to an SL rated tire since I ditched the tires that came with the truck.

I just like the peace of mind knowing that the E rated tires should be more puncture resistant, since I occasionally find myself out on trails that are several thousands of miles away from home.

Also, for what it’s worth, I don’t feel any need to re-gear with these current 33’s. Although they are extremely light for a 33 because I believe they are 2 ply instead of the traditional 3 ply.

I totally get that too. most trails I ever really hit are river take ins and outs but I've been searching for a solid pair of TRD pro rims to maybe make the jump. But your lighter 33s are giving me some more ideas!

Yeah that makes a lot of sense. I have to be honest I never thought I would find a 33” in this weight that I liked. The 285/75/16 Cooper Disoverer XLTs are almost as light but I never pulled the trigger on them because they don’t have the 3PMS rating in the size I wanted.

Alignment is done, the hypertech speedometer is installed and some minor trimming has been done so the 33’s are now fully functional

Great to hear! I need to do a little more trimming and should be good as well.

That front bumper isn't my style but I noticed he has lot of mileage on it. Overall, he did a good job with it.

Well after installing the Hypertech speedometer calibrator and then running through a couple tanks of fuel, I can say for a fact that these Yokohama AT4’s get better gas mileage than my previous smaller Maxxis MT’s. Makes sense because these are about 4 pounds lighter, despite being bigger, and they have a much less aggressive tread pattern.
