After following some chatter on FB 3rd Gen forum I decided to enlist the neighbor mechanic to install the serpentine belt kit that I ordered from Rock Auto. Was not able to replace the lower idler pulley without pulling the oil filter housing off the block or the tensioner without pulling the A/C off. So 3 out of 4 pulleys and belt replaced but the ones I replaced and the belt were actually in fairly good shape after 151000 klms and being 7 years old.

Have the same mirrors and for the life of me, my brain can't make sense of wiring this thing up to the sequential. Happen to have a pic?

Well those are not OR wheels for one, and with the right tires I really like them! I wish I would have seen these before I bought the OEM beadlocks .

Gonna need the deets on those center caps! Have a set of these in my garage that I was gonna use for winters on my 3G but have been debating if I'd like them on my '12. The different cap makes a pretty big visual impact, more than I'd have guessed, but that stock one is a pretty large, bulgy hunk of plastic..

Thanks. That's what I was hoping to hear. I have realistic expectations, but I don't want them all peeling and falling off once it gets cold and snow on them. I plan on getting wheels and tires maybe next summer, so this is just a temporary stopgap until then. I'll probably sell the stock rims when I do, so I want to be able to remove them easy, and I think vinyl will be easier to peel off than plastidip. My friend PD'd his wheels and it took and bunch of wd-40 and a gas-powered pressure washer to get them clean.

I did my first engine mod, installed a different cold air intake. PXL_20240929_173732189.jpg
Then decided to add a Hatebreed decal to match my fenders.

Did the rear seat delete today. I wanted something minimal that still allowed me to use the storage underneath if needed. I still need to paint the panels, add tie downs for the battery box, and buy a slider for my fridge. It'll work for this weekend's trip for now though.

If anyone is curious on the measurements, the driver's side panel is 24"x20" and the passenger's side panel is 24"x32". There's about a 1/8" gap between them.

I hate to burst your bubble, you already had a cold air intake from the factory...and they actually work pretty well. The stock system draws air from outside of the inner fender behind the liner. The stock airbox is also sized well and doesn't cause reduced airflow to the engine.

What you bought may look good, but adds nothing to the performance of your truck. You just get a little more intake noise because the resonator is now gone.

I have yes, but double wire to a single wire throws me off with their little red clips.

Okay I installed a "different style" cold air intake. Happy?

TBH, I've got the K&N tube in my truck (stock airbox). My butt dyno can't tell any difference, but the sound is nice. Really, it's no skin off my ass...if it makes you happy, have at it.

Watching my IAT's on my phone compared to the air temp on my dash there's only 5 degrees difference when running down the road. I'm half tempted to buy a Rough Country intake if one comes up cheap enough as a return on Amazon just to see how much warmer the intake temps actually get.

    Yeah.

That "box" that seals against the hood will still suck warm air from the engine bay. And the tube appears to be more curved than stock or TRD.

I'll admit, I did the TRD intake, but it still pulls from outside the engine bay and I put an OEM filter in it. More for looks and dopamine when I open the hood than anything performance related, but at least is it still pulling from outside the engine bay.

But honestly, none of these do anything for performance. On old carbureted engines they might make a difference, but air and fuel is electronically controlled on modern engines. As long as you aren't overly restricting air, it's not going to make a dang bit of difference.

Why? Because I hear over and over how these are just sucking in hot air with no data to back it up. I'd love to establish actual numbers.

Even when he gives the instructions, he doesn’t seem convinced.

“You see these two wires coming from the turn signal? Take these two wires from the mirror and connect them to the one of the wires.”

    not verbatim
