TW's active 4runner builders BS thread

People of the internet...
Ladyfriend is looking into a 5th Gen.
Any favorite years? I see some come with a J-shift T-Case which we'll look for, and the TRD packages come with a rear locker.
Anything else we should be aware of?

 

Solid trucks all around

Manual transfer case shifter is on TRD Off Road, TRD Pro, and the early Trail trims. Others get the dial or full-time 4WD (Limited trim).

Rust, rust, rust, that's the main thing to look for, though not as bad as prior Yotas, and seems a given regardless of the purchase. Oh that and questionable mods haha

 

2020+ got the updated instrument cluster and some other upgrades such a LED headlights, auto high beams. I can't remember the other stuff.

I have a hard 140k miles on my 2016 and wouldn't trade her for the world.

 

Went camping this weekend, new suspension worked great.
