Hey hope everyone is doing well. I’m new here. I own a 2014 Tacoma. I want to modify my truck because it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. I won’t be taking it to do crazy off road stuff. This is my daily driver. The most she does is drive on the beach and all over trails in jersey and pa for fishing. I want the truck to look good but also perform a little better. What mods would you guys do first? What’s most important? I plan on getting new wheels and tires and head/tail lights. I also want get a new head unit 100%

10k over the next 12 months. Not gonna do it all at once but I will happily put 10k into this truck. I want a better suspension too.

I know several people that love their Dobinson IMS suspensions. I’m planning to upgrade mine to that very soon.

Have you carefully gone over your new-to-you truck to be absolutely certain it doesn't have rust issues?

I bought the truck brand new in 2014 and have taken care of it really well since. The truck is in great shape.

Headlight upgrades can be hit and miss. I hear about failure after failure. Seems the only reliably good headlight housings are OEM. As in ones that last, don't get water intrusion, etc.

    I'm confused. 2014 is a 2nd gen.

No wonder you were calling it a 3rd gen... even TacomaBeast's mis-labeling in the URL is reinforcing it...

With their past, not sure I'd buy from them. Honestly surprised they're still in business, lol. A lot of their stuff is just parts you can get elsewhere for cheaper. I can't vouch for the site below, which is why I didn't link it, but just google the Spyder lights and you can find them for better prices.

    upload_2024-10-2_8-4-50.png

Actually found them on Amazon for even cheaper.

    https://www.amazon.com/Spyder-Auto-5081711-Light-Bar/dp/B01BHBTEFW

    BUT...

after a quick search on here I find the following from someone that knows a thing or two about lights:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/spyder-headlights.673417/#post-23662736

@crashnburn80 has done tons of testing and reviews of all sorts of lighting. and if he says those lights are crap, I'd believe it.

My final two cents on headlights... if you want effective lighting, stick with the OEM housings, if you want cool looking lights that are going to give out less light and/or have failing seals in a year or two... buy whatever you like, lol. Taillights, buy whatever you like. I don't hear much negative on those. Probably because they aren't taking the abuse of wind/rain/bugs/rocks slamming into them at 75 mph.

If you want to “upgrade” your headlights to any of those options, prepare to have terrible visibility at night. They may “look” good during the day, but don’t perform.

I wish this was an easier process lol. Why can’t this just be like modifying my car in a video game?
