Implied (above), I posted that a set of Caddilac horns might be, ah, difficult to find. Yesterday at a wrecking yard, I proved myself wrong. I removed a set of four from a late 1990s (I think) Buick Park Avenue. They work.

But here's my question: Where is the horn set located on a real Cadillac? Is it buried under various stuff, in the upper fenders (like the Park Avenue), behind the grille or bumper? I'm stumped

I looked at several, a DeVille, a Seville, an Eldorado, and several Escalades. The Escalades were easy; those I saw use a two-horn set. But on the DeVilles, the Seville, and the Eldorado, I couldn't figure out where the horn set is located at all! I didn't have the time to perform an experimental tear-down, even in the name of science.

Just curious, why does the original placement matter?

I had my original set placed just behind the grill, I didn't want to mount them low since I go off road. I figured the grill allowed more sound to be heard compared to mounting them behind something solid. It's also easier to place them in a line for wire management.

This is a fair response to my Cadillac OEM placement question! I was asking where Cadillac mounted them to help me locate them on old cars in the wrecking yard. That way, I will know where to look without having to crawl on the ground or remove irrelevant parts while on the search for the horns.

Internet sources show general locations on the old Cadillacs, and tend to indicate "somewhere inside the left front," or "somewhere inside the right front." Not terribly helpful.

Placement of the used Cadillac (or Buick) horns into a Tacoma will bear no relationship to where they were in the donor Cadillac. I went to the effort of placing the four Buick horns as much out of the radiator airflow as I possibly could. But that'll be subject of a forthcoming post with images.

Ah, yea that makes sense! I have never come across any car where the horns were not in front of the radiator and in some cases just left or right of the radiator. Should be easily accessible.

The horns in the donor Buick Park Avenue were inside the upper front fenders. Access to them required removing some sort of pump and an air filter on the left, and the battery on the right. They were nowhere near the radiator.

I admit this is an embarrassingly noobish rookie question, but I wanna do this right.

Recently I found a set of ACDF's and I'm aspiring to replicate Setup #1 on the first page of this thread to mount on my 4th Gen 4runner.

I'm getting hung up on what to use for the mounting bar -- I don't have a pile of random scrap to fabricate something from, and I'm lacking creative ability at the moment, so I need some ideas. Of course it has to be metal so it can function as a ground, but also something that won't rust to nothingness.

    Any suggestions?

3/16"x1" flat aluminum bar from homedepot/lowes/etc. will work fine. That can be mounted to your radiator support with nuts and bolts and serve as the chassis ground.
