I will try to keep this short as possible. What I am looking to build out is a tonneau cover that also facilitates a overland rack and roof top tent for camping. Some preferences listed below. Feel free to chime in any ideas on the matter, as I am new to the whole concept of RTTs.

    Tonneau Cover:
    1. Opening mechanism on the "inside/underneath" so that everything is locked simply with my tailgate lock (no extra keys/steps).
    2. Bed rails for an "overland rack."
    3. Prefer to have a retractable as it seems to be the most convenient for the situation I am building out in my head (I realize it does eat up bed space).
    Overland Rack:
    1. "Low profile" so that my RTT will land around the same height as the cab as the truck (looking at a RTT that is 12" while closed). This is mostly for garage fitment but seems helpful for driving/aerodynamics, also.
    Roof Top Tent:
    1. "Low profile" and durable, easy to set up.

What I have been looking at so far:
    • Tonneau Cover (This is the only retractable tonneau cover I've found that has the rails and an internal opening mechanism. They have an option to add an overland rack as a package but it's a tall one, looking to go to the cab roof line.)

    • Overland Rack (Something like this but the one from the site that sells the tonneau cover is too long and sold out.)

    • Roof Top Tent (Looks to be high quality, simple to use, and would fit nicely above a short bed. Also has the option to put roof rails on top of it for carrying more supplies, kayak, etc.)

    So my biggest questions are:
    1. Does anyone have an suggestions for a "low profile" overland rack for a short bed Tacoma?
    2. Does anyone have an input on the overall plan? Better ways to go about it? Etc.
    3. I assume no one will have much input on the specific tonneau cover, I'd made a post before and didn't get much response. Also, this company seems pretty new, but if you happen to have one to comment on it, that would be great. I combed through their reviews and saw some Tacos using their products.

Hi, would the RetraxPRO XR and some cross rails help make the wanted equipment work for you? It looks like the RetraxPRO XR will check most of the boxes for you.

If that works shoot me a message and I can quote you

Close, but it misses one of the most important parts for me. I do not want an external latch/lock. I am looking for it to be internal latching so that it is "locked" by being closed and my tailgate lock being locked. Appreciate you asking, though!
