She's the one that loses everything... she has Tile trackers on her keys, purse, and earbud case, and any of those ping her phone, lol. She's also the one that leaves our vehicles unlocked... Nothing like walking past my truck to realize she didn't lock the doors and the back seat has a generator, 400w solar panel, camping chairs, nice jackets, my tools, jump pack....

From my experience, motion lights are a massive deterrent. I'd combine the auto-lock function, cameras and motion lights and see where that gets you. If anything, it's a relatively inexpensive test.

Glad you got video. I use cheap Wyze cameras to monitor the outside of my house not the best resolution but I would get a better system if I had the need. Here is a lady checking my daughter’s Scion door (yes it was locked). Camera is aimed through a double pane window with only porch lights on.

I set alarms on my watch and phone for all kinds of things. Set it for a time you are normally getting ready for bed and take a minute to check the locks. I would rather that than finding myself locked out of my truck on a fire road beyond cell service because my truck automatically locked me out

    OMG

Heads up OP - take a deep breath but odds are the police aren't gonna do much..
IF they catch the guy, I bet he is out by the end of the day and back to tryin door handles by that evening

I'm not trying to be an asshole but I am trying to prepare you for the reality of the situation
The fact is LEO is understaffed and overworked so the petty shit seems to go by the wayside
Add in that the 'justice' system is busy being 'compassionate' to the 'victims' [and by that I mean perps] and you have a recipe for disappointment

If you aren't leaving anything of value, then what is this perp stealing?
[again, not trying to be a jerk but this kinda doesn't make sense]
I have some old hoodies, a half gallon of water and some paper targets in my truck - definitely not felony theft by any means aka a slap on the wrist if they ever get caught at best - but if you really need a hoodie then sure take it IDGAF

Plenty of good suggestions above, including setting a daily appointment reminder [for a time when you are home] to make sure it is locked.
I make sure my truck is locked when I check the doors to the house before bed - I just tap the lock button when I make sure the garage is secure
If the perp was coming at the same time each -whatever- I would probably stake it out with a firearm and scare the jeebus outta em at the least...

Sorry you are dealing with this, people can be complete twats
Let us know what you decide to do and how it works out

The guy went down my neighbors 50ft driveway passing 2 security cameras and his motion flood light and still pulled his door handles.

Solutions are out there. My 2012 Buick would lock the doors automatically after a shut down after exit if I selected that option. It would also re-lock the doors if I unlocked them with the remote but I didn't open a door within a certain time period. I believe it was 20 seconds. My 2014 Tacoma does the same thing if I unlock the doors remotely and then bail (forget), or get distracted for some reason. (+- 30 seconds or so).

Things have advanced by an order of magnitude in ten years. As said by previous posters, I'm certain there is an aftermarket solution that will serve your needs.

Good luck! Circle back and tell us how it is going.

I had a drone mobile remote start for my last car and it has proximity entry. So the point was I got used to it auto locking when I got out of the car and shut the door. I should have pulled it out. However that’s why I also forgot to lock my Tacoma and I too was a victim of theft. I have it on camera. I live in a great area and a small town. There was a string of burglaries in the area just like mine. The police have the videos and dusted my truck. It’s shitty that this happens! I remember to lock my truck now!

OnStar did this for about the same money -and- did remote lock without the FOB in case you forgot or couldn't remember from anywhere in the United States where the car could see/communicate to their satellites. I did this just before boarding a flight and it confirmed the doors were locked. I never tried it in-flight because I didn't want to risk getting thrown off the plane and fired when we landed, but I'm sure it would have worked. Also, If you crashed in Northern nowhere and an airbag deployed it would call 911 in that area and a customer rep would call and talk with you (if you were still alive) and stay with you until they arrived if the system still worked: no cell phone required as I recall.

It sounds like a really cool job when you think of it. I occasionally have wished I could call them to advise of a #@$*% on a plane in-flight to meet them at the gate. You could also push a button and contact them for a flat tire fix, tow or navigation on the fly from A-to-B. A live representative would respond and set it up for you: spoken directions and a map on the in-car screen and everything else.
