IMG_8210.jpg It kills me inside knowing this belongs to a really good friend of mine who stood with me at my wedding. We are over deer hunting and I won’t even camp on the same hill as him. I think he like to troll me with his anti christ overlanding builds.

Morning all, I am getting a set of winter wheels/tires made up so I can just do the swap from summer to winter driving. I have the wheels picked out ( just another set of the black TRD wheels) but kind of curious of what thoughts you guys may have for winter driving in the western Washington area. I do very little off road, but some winters we get the snow and ice. Just looking to see what some of you suggest. Thanks in advance

never put studs or winter tires on the T4R, just ran ATs all year, tire chains if it’s nasty nasty or crossing a pass..

I don’t know exactly where are at and you may get more snow in your location or if you are at elevation but most of western WA is pretty mild really, put some extra weight in the back and drive a little slower if there has been a storm.

If you want a set of dedicated winter tires you can't go wrong with blizzaks

    Something like this

Pardon my ignorance, but what is T4R? I live on the Olympic peninsula and I currently run Yokohama Geolander A/T. They about 30k miles. But noticed last year on a slight incline in fresh snow (about 2”, in 4x4) the truck wanted to crab. So looking for something with a little more bight.

Years back I had a set of blizzaks on a BMW M3 (RWD) and during a particularly bad winter storm in Tacoma, was able to get up and down pretty much any steep road I wanted to. The look on the traffic cops face as I passed a bunch of stuck cars on a hill was priceless.

We have Blizzaks on our Subaru Legacy and they suck in the snow. I can’t even get the car to drift pulling the Ebrake trying to slide around corners on compact snow. I took it out in our field to try doing some doughnuts in 8” of power and it wouldn’t brake loose. Hell my wife even drove it to Seattle during a silver thaw to successfully pick up my mother in law who was staying at her friends house on a steep ass iced hill and bring her back to our house. The Blizzaks have ruined the entire winter driving experience. Driving to the store to get a gallon of milk in a blizzard isn’t a white knuckle adrenaline rush anymore.

I feel for you man, I will probably miss those days as well. Especially coming down off a winding snow packed Mountain road and going into a left curve and the truck continuing straight, off the road into the ditch, up the other side and slamming into a snow bank. Ah, good times. But, I’m getting older now and my wife tells me I really need to wind things down a little.
