I don’t use the auto feature, but maybe the don’t hyperflash after being on to long either. I had a set on my 17 that wasn’t supposed to hyperflash but after about 3 minutes they started. :annoyed:

It is mentioned at the other forum site. I won’t know for sure until I get my truck and install them.

Not incorrect. In auto mode they are just turn signals.

I should have been explicit. The white leds don’t run as daylight running lights, during daylight, when the steering wheel light stick is set on AUTO. It’s a pretty minor issue but it would be nice if they were on.

Agreed and when I bought them I guess I thought the DRLs (white) would be on during the day. The company description is a little vague and I assumed. (You know what happens when you do that). I don’t know anyone that wouldn’t take advantage of the auto headlight function.

Hope to clear up some confusion on the various lighting modes on the 4G.

    -------------
The LASFIT T3-7443D work great as a switchback LED

    -- ORANGE when blinking
-- WHITE in all other modes
    -------------

The parking / turn signal lights are not technically DRLs as they aren't ON when mode set to AUTO during the day, where I assume most people would keep it. The "official" DRLs are the headlights IF you enable them in the multimedia system.

As described in the original post, the only way to turn on only the parking / turn signal lights as DRLs during the day is to disable DRL in the multimedia system, disable FOG, then set the light mode to PARKING.

    IMG_6460.jpg

Here is how the various 4G light modes work

    Screenshot 2024-10-04 at 10.29.49 PM.png

    HEADLIGHT
    • HEADLIGHT = ON
    • PARK / TURN = ON
    • FOG ON (if enabled) / FOG OFF (if disabled)

    PARKING (FOG ON)
    • PARK / TURN = ON
    • FOG = ON

    PARKING (FOG OFF)
    • PARK / TURN = ON
    • HEADLIGHT = ON (if DRL enabled / day or night)

    AUTO (NIGHT)
    • HEADLIGHT = ON
    • PARK / TURN = ON
    • FOG ON (if enabled) / FOG OFF (if disabled)

    AUTO (DAY)
    • HEADLIGHT = ON (if DRL enabled)

    DRL OFF
    • All Lights = OFF (including DRL and FOG if enabled)

Headlight DRLs do not have a dash indicator when ON

Great description but INACCURATE when you and lasfit both state "white in all other modes" because they are not white in all other modes. They are white in ONE mode in which you have explained the 3-4 steps you have to do to actually get them to work in white. For ALL OTHER modes they are just a very small amount brighter of a turn signal. While they are not expensive, they are not worth even $5 if you like to run in auto mode. Just keep the stock bulbs.

I assure you my lights work exactly as I described. I’m curious if you have the TH / PRO / LIMITED trim, LASFIT says they are not compatible with those trims.

[EDIT: signature says you drive SPORT PREM]

Seems your lights are working backwards to how they should. I believe if they are installed backwards they don’t work at all. Could be defective? Could be a slightly different model / generation bulb?

See interesting text from the Tacoma manual

    IMG_6478.png

    << EDIT >>

See attached video. The sequence of modes are as follows:

    - DRL OFF
    - AUTO (NIGHT)
    - PARKING
    - HEADLIGHT
    - PARKING
    - LEFT SIGNAL
    - HAZARDS
    - DRL OFF

Had to convert the video to GIF at 10 FPS to post here. Disregard funky looking blink.

I have a Sport with Premium package.

I assure you the lastfit lights are installed properly. The wrong way they do not work at all.

In auto mode - no matter what the settings are. DRL on or off (toggled in the infotainment screen). Fog lights on or off (toggled on and off on the light stalk) the lastfit DO NOT work as a DRL at all. I have tried all combinations.

Most people run in auto mode hence making the lastfit "switchback" lights worthless as a drl. They are simply just a little bit brighter turn signal.

I just went out and did all of it again in case I was missing something.

Roger. The bulb won’t make the truck light circuit function any differently, just changes them from always orange (parking or signal) to white when not signaling a turn and orange when signaling a turn (the two different filaments of the original halogen bulb). This is exactly what I bought them for because I don’t like the look of an orange running light next to the white headlight and fog light. It stands out too much.

If yours don’t function the same as my GIF, then they may be defective.

I am disappointed that Toyota didn’t make the parking lights the real DRLs as I think it would have looked much better that way. Keeping the dedicated LED ring for DRL would have looked even better.

I like the Lasfit switchback LED. I am not sure how other drivers will react but my truck isn’t nearly as bright as some of the other vehicles on the road. Those monster Fords are up to 8 lights on their factory front now.

I also like that bright ass turn blinker.

When I want a drl effect, I’ll run with the parking markers or full headlights.

I tested all this earlier today and I am satisfied with the purchase.

This. The effect looks good, I’m just too lazy to switch between PARKING and AUTO, so it stays in AUTO.

I took some photos of the LASFIT Switchback LED's with my iPhone this morning in the parking lot of the location I walk my dog. I cropped and edited these photos to remove optical artifacts so there are a few weird spots in the grille. I was pleased to note that nobody flashed their lights at me this morning, but it was Sunday traffic before daybreak. The nut jobs will be out tomorrow so we'll see what happens then.

This set is two settings. Full lights and fogs (low beam headlights, fogs and markers), then the parking lights (Lasfit pseudo DRL lights and marker lights). I will be typically running with these two settings, or all lights off. I didn't take any pics of the blinkers because you get a better idea on the videos I've seen. The blinkers are killer. People will definitely know where you are headed.

Ok, I’m still confused but I also just woke up, but will the DRL’s be on when the lights are set to Auto?

DLRs yes if it’s bright outside, but not these white park lights
DLRs no, full headlights will be on as well as these white park lights

These are just white park lights with a yellow blinker, they will turn on white when your park lights are on or flash yellow if your blinker is on.

I ordered the Amber LED bulbs a few minutes ago. I’ve been getting oncoming traffic flashing me with the Lasfit Swithback LED bulb on white. They think I have my brights on. We have some tight corners on the way out of my area.

So, I am going to try the amber bulbs and see how I like them.

Now if I could just get these assholes to stop using auto bright headlights. With tight roads and 90 degree corners, by the time it senses my truck and turns their headlights off bright, I’m already blinded. My eyes age and cataracts compound the issue.

It’s been LED headlight wars the past few weeks since I got the truck and Lasfits. I hope the ambers settle things down.

And fyi, they are on sale at Amazon. $41.67 delivered to my house. See https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C8M81CY1

I added this light and it was deceiving to me at first or I didn't completely understand it. I was expecting the park lights would stay on along with the DRL.

Does this turn off the auto lights also?
