Is Dorman carrier bearing an acceptable replacement for bad OEM on my 2000 prerunner? Or , are they like all rest of clones on market? Again, my thanks to you guys.

Go with Spicer instead of Dorman. I was able to get a Spicer carrier bearing on Amazon for like $65 or so a couple years ago. It came with the Toyota part number and all. Never heard of anyone running the Dorman option. Many run the Spicer option for years without problems though

Using Toyota OEM for all running parts and their connections (engine, transmission, suspension, and drive train) will save you a lot of headaches.

I went with an SKF (I think) a few years ago. 2 years later the rubber is blown the f*** out. Would steer away from anything other than OE or OEM, like others said I think Spicer is as close as you’ll get to a Toyota part

I think Spicer IS the OEM, last Spicer I bought came with Toyota stamped into the rubber

I ended up replacing the entire driveshaft with a remanufactured one and it comes with the carrier bearing already installed. I was planning to replace just the carrier bearing but I figured it'd be easier to just do the whole driveshaft instead so food for thought. I have an extra National HB-31 carrier bearing which I prefer over the Spicer since it's sealed like the OEM if you're interested.

I had that Spicer one on my last truck for 5 years/100k when I sold it. Still looked good and worked fine. I would get a new stake nut from Toyota though.
