In need of help with a power tailgate lock install on my 2022 Limited Tacoma.
Can anyone tell me which side the cable plugs in on? Most Gen 3 info I see says the passenger side and a couple say on the 2022 model year, it has to be the driver's side. The factory part I purchased does not come with instructions so all I have are utube videos on older models. Also, I have spoken with 2 different dealership parts departments and they have no clue or are maybe unwilling to give out any info. Has anyone installed this on a 2022 V6 Limited Model short-bed
Thanks in advance for your time and help it is greatly appreciated.

I've not heard of a power tailgate on any Tacoma.

Are you talking about a power lock?

Pictures of what you bought might help

This is the power lock mechanism, not a power gate. A mistake on my part. Sorry for the confusion. Also, I tread where one person had electrical issues when installing on the passenger side of the truck. Anyway, I'm hoping for a definitive answer on this. BTW, the 1st dealership even said there was no option available for this upgrade.
    Thanks again for your help

FWIW, I installed same on a 22 OR and the linked 2019 instructions look identical. Follow those and you should be just fine.

I recently installed this on my '23. The instructions posted above are what came with my kit. The wiring routes under the passenger side and enters the cabin through a grommet hole under the passenger's seat. It connects behind the plastic cover on the right side of the footwell just in front of the door frame.

Agreed, I have a 22, installed this and it was all passenger side. It seems not all kits were compatible with the 22 though when I researched and I ended up with the R4T kit and it worked great.

I have a 2017 Limited. According to all the Toyota documentation the power lock upgrade is only for 2019 and up. It works fine in my 2017 Limited and a gazillion people on this site have installed it and it works fine.

R4T works with all years and is quieter overall (if that matters)
