So, I've had my 08 Pre-Runner about a year and have been gathering parts to start some basic upgrades. I already put in LED bulbs everywhere including headlights. I have everything (but time off) to do a full stereo upgrade with speakers etc. The new stereo has a spot for a backup camera so that's next on the list.

Then I want power windows and door locks. I didn't realize how much I'd miss the little creature comforts.

My question is thus: can I get the replacement parts kits that started popping up in ads ten seconds after I started searching and modify the door guts, or do I need to track down actual doors with those options built in? I haven't needed to open the door cards yet, just starting to research what this project will entail. I'll already be checking local yards and if I find a 2nd gen with the right doors, great. Problem solved. But in my area that's less likely to happen.

Anybody done this sort of project and can offer advice?

I'd first want to know if the door harness is wired for power locks and windows.
If not, you got a lot of work ahead of you.

Well, I know it was an option for the model I have (Option A). I don't know if the stock harness has spots for that built in, but if I have to run a few extra wires and add an auxiliary fuse box, I'm ok with that. It would be nice if was factory plug-n-play, but if not its a speed bump not a project stopper. To be fair, over the next few years I'll probably wind up building a fully custom wiring harness to account for an engine swap years down the road.
This is also not something I'm thinking is an easy weekend mod. That's why this is just starting the research stage of some upgrades and mods.
