Rented a 2024 Tacoma TRD Off Road hybrid last week. Below are some of the things that I noticed:

    1) It had a hesitation/stutter off the line?
    2) While driving the engine made noise similar to the drill at a dentist office? Really annoying.
    3) Turning radius was not very good?
    5) For some reason and Im not sure why the cabin felt more cramped than the Gen3?
    6) Not very much storage in back of cab?
    7) Difficult to reach inside bed?
    8) MPG was not great?
    9) A/C got cold but where the vents are located didn't cool down cabin efficiently?
    10) The hood noticeably bounces around over every bump on the road, even at slow speeds?

I'm a Tacoma guy and really wanted to like this hybrid truck.

What was your "not very great" MPG? The loss of storage is obviously a thing with the hybrids owing to the batteries being underneath the rear seats. Turning radius is 3-ft wider on the 4th Gen, per YouTube videos.

only one of those concerns applies to hybrid. and that concern is not something that is broke or designed wrong. just something some people may not like.

    Can you share:
What company did you rent from?
    How much did it cost?
How many days did you have the truck?

    So...

My Gen 4 is a straight gas model. There's no hesitation. It has a ton more storage than the previous gen, and I get significantly better gas mileage with a hell of a lot better powertrain. I find the AC just as good as my gen 3. (And then there are the vented seats. Holy mother.)

Mine's TRD OR with the Premium package and it's so much more of a truck than my 2016, I call it my Spaceship.

    Simple. Don't buy one.

Other folks will have a different view.

C+ on the troll job. It was going ok until you said the deeper bed was a negative.

Everything you mentioned could be true, but the fact that it doesn’t accelerate like a 1974 VW Superbeetle, the way both my 3rd Gens do, still makes it a big improvement.

They did in fact loose 1” of rear leg room. But the front drivers position gets a gold star. My 22 was so bad it hurt my legs to drive. Really bothered the left hip the way the automatic had the foot bump out on the left side. So left leg was always cramped. I went from a 23 sport premium to a 24 sport premium and I will never look back!

You know you could sell your two Gen3's and then you may have enough for a new Gen4?

I can’t believe they have a hybrid Tacoma at a car rental company when in Canada you have to wait 6 months to a year to buy a hybrid Tacoma.

They are around in Canada, just few and far between. I’m not sure what kind of shit games dealers are playing, but they tell you the wait list is 80 miles long for ‘truck X’ but there are a bunch of ‘truck a… b or c’ sitting around in lots (well not a bunch, but more than 0, and no 6 month wait). I bought my trailhunter without being on a wait list, there was 1 more sitting in a different dealer, and I got a call about another from a dealer when their buyer fell through. I did see a few TRD OR hybrids as well while I was looking, that were not spoken for. (All Alberta)

Dealer specific. My dealer said they can’t get hybrids. Roll forward a few months to now and they had a trail hunter. Sales manager traded for it. He’s got people waiting for pros. So if I wanted a pro it would be deep in 2025. When I got mine they had a few base models my sport premium and a blue off-road premium. I just don’t off-road in New England. I’m not trying to scratch a 55k truck on thick ass brush. Plus I really like the hood on the sport. I’m vein :).. A trail hunter wouldn’t work for me as I prefer the tonneau cover to keep my stuff dry over racks. Plus the steps on the sport are better for the wife and small kids over rock sliders. The pro is hard for me to justify. 1 The 80k price tag is A loaded Tundra territory. 2 the shocks on the front seats make the back seating smaller and it’s already tight with a rear facing car seat. We will see what happens in a few years LoL
