    Ok, using that fancy modern Millennial math: 160 + 160 + 250 = $570

Nope. You just go Ignition On and push on the pedal enough to activate the brake booster. More of a two person job than anything.

    This and that
They were saying in the vid you needed to cycle it with a computer because of the booster being electronic.

hmmm. I know my fluid is yeller and it really shouldn’t be.

So ignition on, bleed passenger rear first, brake engaged?

General rule is to start at the furthest away from the booster and work your way in. But, yeah. Ignition On, have someone push on the pedal enough to get a hum out of the booster (don't have to push too far), crack the bleeder, and catch the fluid. It will run for a decent amount of time. Repeat.

You can test this without actually bleeding. Ignition On and hit the pedal.

wow, i can't fathom paying that much for brakes on a toyota. Just pads/rotors and sensors on my porsche are about $1k but I also get to drive it like a porsche.

Yeah, you're getting porked. Front pads and rotors, your parts= $200 max. Time under an hour. Adjust rears = 20 min. Only going by what I can do it in. Just sayin'

I’m going to pay my shop guy about $500 for front brakes and rotors this winter as I’m starting to notice that slight vibration when first applying brakes on a downhill. He installs Napa lifetime pads. That’s about $100 more than I anticipated, but I think it’s worth it with the cost of things these days.

Brake service has become extremely expensive for no real reason. They're charging almost $400 an axle around me.

Learn to do it yourself and you'll save yourself a few grand over a few years

I know it's prob ez to do and this is always the 1st response you get from ham n eggers on any car forum when you ask how much you're paying for shop work. For the sake of argument, I don't trust myself and I don't wanna deal with that when I can sit at a bar and let someone do what they do several times a day. Total for me for the rotor/pad replacement, rear adjust and fluid flush and fill was $580 total. Again, I supplied the parts which I got on ebay (new oem) for $276 new (rotors + pads) so I'm sort of ok with what I paid.

I respect the OP's position here as he admits he doesn't trust himself and like many, the trade off in time spent isn't worth it to them. Working on your own vehicle really is something that just the minority of truck owners will take on. Tools and time are money. I think one reason that many, like myself, chose to do our own work is so that we know it was done correctly. Personal experience and that of many friends, show that often the job is not being completed correctly or not completed at all. Saving money is just a nice by-product of doing it yourself. Even if someone else does the job, make sure you have enough knowledge to follow up on the integrity of their work.

What's interesting is that concern over the cost of a service, like this post, often is the starting point for someone to start down the path of self-reliance when it comes to their truck. TW is a great resource for that venture.

    It is expensive.
With a lift and tools, that's an hour and a half of work.
I'm not a mechanic, and I could do it in less if there was money riding on it.
