Has anyone else had their battery last as long as mine did? I bought my 17 Tacoma in the spring of 2017 and even though it was still working just fine I opted to replace it before going on a trip to South Carolina. With colder weather starting to begin I didn't want to chance it dying on the road somewhere.
My truck is parked during the winter months and I use a trickle charger with the battery. I did not think it would fire up the truck when I got it back out this spring but it did and ran all summer with no issues. That battery is at least 7 years old. I haven't looked up my trucks manufacture date. Ive never had one last this long and was surprised this one did.

Batteries are funny. I had the first one in my motorcycle last 10 years, the identical replacement lasted 1 years. Average life is 3-4 years so I guess this tracks.

My 18 taco has the original battery which I will be replacing this fall since it was weak last year.

7 years is probably longer than average, but not unusual either. It is HOT weather that kills batteries. You just don't find out they are bad until it gets cold and they will no longer start the car. A weak battery will still start a car when the weather is warm. Batteries wear out faster in hot weather states.

LED interior, license plate, and fog lights. More to come.
Even though it lives it's life outdoors my wife's 2018 Civic is still on its original battery. I attribute it to her driving it every day so it never sits dormant.

Overnight dose of a trickle charger few times a year does help battery life !

Typically we get 8yrs or more on batteries. I used to not believe the issues with the Taco battery until mine was toast at 3yrs. At over 4yrs in, the crazy part is how fast the same 24F battery from Costco cranks. It runs my fridge at times (got that after the battery replacement) and has seen a couple deep cycles.

It is great that yours lasted. All of ours should have gone that long. Hell, Toyota probably paid out more in warranty swaps than the $0.05 they saved in the factory spec.

A few months ago, I replaced the battery in my '96. It was a 14 year old Kirkland brand from Costco. This old battery seemed to crank fine, but I figured it's time was up. I have no idea why it lasted that long other than I don't drive the truck much so it was not subjected to many discharge/charge cycles.

Just did my 15'' Taco 2 days ago, it had a good run but a cell [actually a 2nd was close to bad] went bad. Put in a Deca.

I desulfate regularly but few batteries last forever.

My oem battery leaked within a few months after buying new. That was warrantied for a truestart 84 month Toyota battery which lasted several years.

I eventually replaced that with a 24F AGM Everstart from Walmart, which lasted 2.5 years before recently replacing it with another one.

They don't make 'em like they used to 'eh ?....?

I replace mine every 2 years regardless, so this June I'll be buying 3 new batteries.

We had 70 days of 110+ heat, and something like 113 consecutive days of at least 100.
This weekend, which will mark the second week of October, we are looking at a brisk 98 degrees.
Time to get out the sweaters.

Funny thing is when the temps hit 85 people will be wearing hoodies out here -

I got 5 years out of the one in my 2016. My 2005 Mercedes was another story. Original battery went 14 years! I have since replaced the battery 2x, both Interstate batteries. I went cheap on those and got the "blemished" batteries from the Interstate guy that comes to work. Can't beat $55 for a battery with a year warranty.

Sh*t fellas... my stock battery on a 21 I bought new only lasted 41k miles as of 1mo ago. Just bought a gold die hard but damn that seems underwhelming at best for an oem battery

Replaced my '17 Battery last fall. It died, but started easily with a boost. Figured it was time.
