I thought mine were replaced at 90K by the dealership due to my truck getting struck by lightning. ($6K in ECU, sensors, parts)

At 194K I changed them and realized they were the factory plugs. (3 denso, 3 ngk)

    Plug Gap Stretch!
    3 - Denso Passenger Side Gaps: .069, .070, .068
    3 - NKG Driver Side Gaps: .074, .072, .075

Truck had a bit better idle, but overall ran the same. I did use a very thin line of anti-sieze on each plug.

@TnShooter We appreciate your TW input sir!!

When I do my own that's what I go by. Two of my Tacomas have free lifetime oil changes from dealership, so when they recommend spark plug change, I usually let them do it.

My 09 had around 200,000 miles when i sold it. I think it was still on the original plugs.

I generally use anti sieze on dissimilar metals, especially aluminum. Didn't use anti sieze on the plugs the previous time and had a hard time removing them. Will use it from now on. Never torque wrenched plugs until this Tacoma. For $25, why take any risk?
I believe under normal driving conditions, the plugs can go 60-70K miles. They will last over 100K, but performance will suffer. They only stop working when the electrodes are gone. I'll change them at 30-40K.

I have done well with iridium plugs since the 2005, 153K mile truck was near new. Replaced them once.

What's kinda interesting to me is that, from just a glance without knowing anything about anything, the pictures of plugs I see here in the 2nd gen forum with 120k or more miles on them look to me like the plugs that are changed on Toyota time. Here are mine done right on the dot at 30k miles on my truck that had 60k miles on it at the time. Not a great picture, but the electrodes look just as worn as some of the others with far higher mileage.

If I remember right I did mine for the first time at 150k. Almost time to do them again.

    minor tweaks
The difficulty in threading out the sparkplugs has nothing to do with antisieze but getting them to break loose does. The carbon buildup on the exposed threads at every end of sparkplug is what makes them difficult to thread out. Antisieze won't help that issue.

When I had 30,000 on my current set, I pulled one (the easiest one to get to) and checked it. It looked fine. If figure I'll change these at 60k.
Don't worry @TnShooter, we still love you.

The first set I did @50k looked great.
And I used that as an excuse to "put off" changing them.

Then there was the rear axle seal leak.
    Front brakes
    Front wheel bearings. x2
    Then the Needle Bearing
    And then Rear Brakes.

I'm a "one job at a time" type guy.
After that "One job", I'm good for awhile. I don't jump right back into another job. I take a break.
    A big break:anonymous:

Not to mention all the other peoples stuff I worked on.
I don't enjoy it. But I try to help others. So I end up working on stuff anyways.
    Just not my stuff.......

This is true, I have the 4 cylinder and those are 100K. I did them at 110K, ran fine but it was time and figured rather do them in the decent weather versus having a bad plug in the wintertime.
