Has anyone just added a couple USB outlets to the back (without an outlet)? Would it just tap into the existing outlet in the console?
Sorry for the noob question in advance.

You could wire them to any 12v source. Doesn't have to be to the inverter

I finished this up myself today. Did the 400W anytime mod with interior outlet from Guild Outfitters, and added a combo (1) USB-A and (2) USB-C charger. I thought I'd make the USB charger cool and plug-and-play so it was removable and so it used the stock wiring/fuse for USB. I bought the plug that goes to the OEM USB port in the center console storage area (the female plug is 90980-12D25 and can be bought with the corresponding male plug on AliExpress for insanely cheap) and made a short extension, cut off the in-line fuses that came with the new USB charger, and then soldered in the wiring to the new USB port. That way, should I decide to swap out the USB I just installed with something else, I can do it without having to de-solder anything.

JST connectors: take your time. I recommend ordering two sets of the plugs, as they come with pins that you might mess up on your first attempt, or you might put one into a connector and then break another, so having back-ups is handy. <ahem>

    IMG_0707.HEIC.jpg
If you want to keep all of the pinstriping on the outside of your vehicle, I recommend setting these trim pieces on a towel or carpet while you work on them, not on the garage floor like I did.

This is the tap I fab'd up. Solder connections taped and leading back to the new USB port. Getting all of the wiring tucked away safely so it didn't rub on the moving hand brake parts was a bit of a hassle, as there's what appears to be a lot of room in this area, but not a lot of places to easily secure something. I recommend lots of wire tape.

Nice find with the plug. I looked in the past for that plug to make a plug and play adapter to the factory USB, but couldn't find one.

Is this the one you got?

Do you guys making this mod have a volt meter? You notice any crazy drop with the engine off?

I’ll bet a few of you have run it dead accidentally

Well... They just got delivered (I ordered three sets just in case) and I only got one side of the plugs, even though it shows both. They refunded me in less than a minute. Not sure if I want to try again.

Bummer, man. Sorry you only got 50% of the order, but at least they had a no-hassle refund for ya.

AliExpress was handily the cheapest option I found, as buying OEM was the only other choice I saw and it was a lot pricier. Maybe place an order from a different vendor on AliExpress?

Yeah, I ordered from another vendor. Should be here in early November. Maybe it will be just the other half this time!

Just bought one of these...pulls up to 500 watts from the amp. It connects to the battery with 6 gauge wire to the controller. The Tacoma inverter uses something like 16 or 18 gauge wire, it's not designed for much load...The Bluetti controller Works really good so far. Charges my 1400 watt Bluetti battery in about three hours.

Is it 'snarky' Sunday Caribe Makaira? When you say I'm looking at the wrong wires, I'm definitely no electrical engineer but do have practical experience. That said, have you ever pulled the inverter off and taken a look at the wires. My truck wires are very small feeding the inverter, it's not designed for much load. The controller I installed runs about 7' from the battery to the cab and uses 6 gauge wire. My Tacoma, maybe not yours, runs from the battery at the front to the rear of my bed. The wire length is somewhere double or more using small gauge wire. Just adding a pretty cheap and relatively easy way to avoid solar or an alternator upgrade to handle moderate power needs. I've seen some pretty crazy expensive and complicated set-ups that I wanted to avoid.

There are to connectors to the OEM inverter. The one connector (2 spot) supplies fused juice via relay and the other ground. THOSE aren't tiny at all.
Now the other connector which supplies various signals to the inverter and the 3 that provide A/C (3.33 Amps Max) are small gauge indeed.
