Anyone have experience with a Billygoat walk behind brush mower? I see a used one for $1k nearby that I’m considering.

Been working on and with the tractor. I did a complete service on it all filters and fluids so I have a good starting point.
I worked it about all day clearing and grading around the shed and in the woods. I found a couple things not working right. The hand throttle kept backing off so adjusted that and parking brake was hard to engage so adjusted that. Took it out Sunday and popped an apple tree stump! Loving it so far.
After being on it all day Saturday I figured out I needed a way to hold my phone so I can listen to music and keep it close to my glucose meter so mounted a ram mount to the “dash”

then figured out I needed a small til box for pins and stuff so I fabbed a mounting bracket and used a 30cal ammo can

ordered a hitch mount for the rear that also has a bar to hang weights from waiting on that. I recognized using the loader I need some counter weight in the rear

It’s also a drinker compared to other similar sized saws.
I’ve seen great results from the husky 562, running between a 28-38” bar. Smaller bar is just a benefit.
My 261 had a 16” light bar but I bought in with a 20”. Bigger stuff gets the MS400

My dad would have the phone, ammo can, and lights ripped off in 3 days.

I put brand new lights on his tractor once, never got them wired up and he ripped them off within a week. He simply didn't care, lol.

Not sure what I saw but it was definitely a military vehicle. It has at least 6 troops in it, they were headed out to support our area. Definitely a off-road vehicle there was 3 of them headed towards the river.

Following Katrina the skies were just full of these. Literally for weeks and weeks. And then came the carpet, flooring, sheetrock, appliances, and cut trees at the curbs. And the refrigerators... loaded with spoiled food... at the curb also. Some of the stuff remained at the curb for months. And houses in heavily damaged areas had coded tic-tac-toe like markings spray painted on the front doors... indicating that the location had been searched, and how many survivors or bodies were recovered. A lot of bad memories. Next August will be 20 years.. believe it or not. Many areas are still not (and never will) recovered.

Those guys and black hawks and private choppers along with small aircraft. We are getting lots of supplies from every where.
We got lots of empty boxes from the grocery store for the food pantry today.
Fresh meat is only ground beef. Anything prepackaged is getting thru slowly.
The grocery stores can't cut meat because there's no water because the water system was severely damaged.
Fresh milk is getting better but the shelves are getting bare.
We are cut off from the West so everything has to come from the East and South. I-26 and I-40 both from TN are closed indefinitely.
Power is coming back but lots of places still out.
They are starting to get concerned about the mud and tetanus, if people have open wounds.
One school had a well drilled but it may not be enough to supply it.
Right now we just need tankers or 275 gallon totes of water so people can clean and bathe.
Thank you for your help, support and prayers.
Sorry that turned into an update.

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
I got a little Ryobi chainsaw from a yard sale 15 years ago. Still starts in 3-5 pulls even after sitting for a year. Kinda surprised by it.
18" bar. It's a bit weak but has managed for basic homeowner stuff.

A few years ago i got a Dewalt cordless chainsaw with a 12" bar or maybe 14, i forget now. That has been awesome for small jobs like cutting landscape timbers, fence posts, and tree branches. Good for camping too. No need for earplugs and chain stops as soon as trigger released. Leaks bar oil as it sits unused though which is annoying but all my sawshave done that.

    What county are you in?

Our preacher and a member went Monday to Avery county, N.C. to check on the members grandma. The preacher ask me if I would be able to make a trip for a few days to help if they can get a team together.

With that being said, our church has started collecting things to bring. Last night I saw a lot of diapers, formula, and bottled water.

Can you tell me anything I can tell him to ask for to bring? It may be a week or 3+, I'm not sure.

My wife said she would like to go, if we weren't so up-in-age and so far away. But she did research and chose to make a pretty sizable donation to Samaritan's Purse dedicated to Helene victims. She also set up some link on her Facebook encouraging others to donate. So far, several have donated through her page.

    We are in Madison County.

The county was severely impacted in Marshall and Hot Springs and any area on sizable creeks and the French Broad River. I would like to think we need to look at the need for housing at this time, since the weather is turning colder this morning it was 40*. People are going to need warmer clothing. I know people are setting up tents on their property and the foundation of their homes that were washed away. The county has a YT page and a website www.madisoncountync.gov We are helping with the Sandy Mush Food Pantry which we were able to help get over 80 boxes for our food distribution in connection with Manna Food Bank. We are seeing bottled water everywhere.
The diapers and formula are a great idea.

    Thank you and your congregation.

One of these just arrived in my mail today. I have the 8750w. I have three 20lb cylinders so I thought I'd take the plunge ahead of Winter. Been two Winters without losing power, so I figure I'm overdue.

Trust me, I know the sum of the part prices is about half of what they sell for, but I know myself well enough to know I'd never get around to accumulating everything.

Anybody have this set? Pros/cons? May install it later today or tomorrow at latest. Any tips?

Housing can be a real problem. We were lucky personally in Katrina in that our house didn't flood. Another 1/8" of rainfall and it would have been a different story for us. We had some roof damage, and fences and trees down. About 5" of water in the garage. Katrina water didn't carry mudslides like you guys have, but it was loaded with muck... no such thing as a clean flood around here.
Many people whose homes were unlivable were provided FEMA trailers to live in. A lot of people lived in those for a really extended time waiting for their homes to be repaired/rebuilt. You'll likely start to see those white trailers popping up in your area.

I installed the propane conversion on my Predator 2K, pretty straight forward, and it fired right up. The studs for the carb mount were a bit tricky to get backed out in order to fit the spacer. I ended up having to put two nuts on the stud and double wrench them to get them backed out.

So is this for a small generator? Or are you converting a mower to Propane?

8750W Predator generator. I know a little off topic for this thread, but the guys here are pretty tolerant and definitely wise about anything with a small engine, so I posted here.

Installed it this afternoon. Like any "one size fits all", there were a few challenges. The bar clamps for attaching the main regulator to the frame of the gen were too small for the tubing diameter. Rivnuts to the rescue. Holes in airbox had to be drilled to fit the carb mounting stud extensions. Airbox gets pushed out about 3/4" further from the carb and the airbox lower mounting stud (just below carb fuel S/O valve) is too short. I extended it with a bit of "ingenuity".

Shorted several hose clamps (red feed line) which I didn't have so I haven't test fired it yet.

Oh you are for sure in the right area....

Most of us are all for converting things to Propane, so wasn't sure if you were swapping a gas mower or small Genny.

What's the kit rated for? (To support)
