    2006 prerunner, 4.0, 293k. 6 speed.
A little history. Decided to change all the spark plugs and coils. I used NGK iridium and NGK coils. The coils aren't Japanese but from Mexico. It drove for several days but had a weird surging issue. Not like a dropping of a cylinder but more of more power coming and going.
So driving from the store, it stalled and wouldn't restart. Got it towed home and thought maybe fuel pump because it's never been changed. Ended up ordering the kit to check fuel pressure and when the key turns on fuel pressure goes to 40 and stays there.
So here's what I've noticed. When you turn the key from off and all the way to crank the truck will fire but then after you stop cranking and release the key it stops running. Also if you then try to crank it from the run position It will not fire again. But if you turn the key all the way off and then go to crank it will fire for that second or two and then die. So to me it seems like something's happening between the crank position and the run position. Where there's no injector pulse or something. But I have multiple codes
    P0102, P0230, and then every ignition coil has a code P0351thru P0356
I've looked at all the ECU and EFI fuses in the engine bay and under the dash and they're good. Tried swapping some of the relays under the hood. Nothing changed. Kind of at a loss what to look at. Only thing I can think of is immobilizer issue or ignition switch. It's just strange that it fires and then dies. And then won't fire unless you turn the key all the way off
The immobilizer light does turn off with the old key which is very worn. I tried a newer key and in the first power spot If you jiggle the key the lights for the immobilizer comes on and off on the dash. But once you turn it to the second power AKA run it doesn't do that. But still doesn't start the truck.
    Thanks for any help!!

Try swapping back in your original coils to start. p0351-356 are all coil codes

My sister replaced her OEM coils with aftermarket ones on her Yaris and had a slew codes for a couple months. The codes went away when they bought OEM coils.

Thanks to everyone for the help!!
It was the damn aftermarket coils!!
Put all 6 old ones in and it runs fine.
So definitely do not buy aftermarket coils!!
    Thanks again!!

Sweet, glad it was a simple fix.

I'm all for saving a little cash but the older I get, the more I realize sometimes it's better to pay a little more for OEM parts.

I agree with the OEM parts. Especially now a days with so many poor quality parts on the market you can't even trust the name brands anymore. I had a gates water pump squeal so bad from the start. I have had a four seasons AC compressor seized right out of the box!! You couldn't even turn the shaft!! These used to be gold standard parts companies!
The truck is still acting weird. It kind of surging or losing power at times. Usually when you shift into 3rd it does it right away. Especially if you give it throttle. But there are no codes and no misfires on the live data so I'm just going to keep driving till it gets worse. Because like you said if it ain't broke don't fix it!!

It sounds like you may either have a dirty throttle body or dirty VVTi filter screens. Both are really easy, simple fixed with a bit of elbow grease and a some cleaning spray.

I have about 200k on my original oem coils.

I have seen many, many, many toyota and lexus vehicles with 200-300k miles on original coils.

put the originals back. we typically only change toyota coils, when they start to fail. and they usually fail intermittently, giving you a little bit of a warning and time to buy a new one before complete failure.
