Looking for some help to find a wiring diagram or pin out for a specific switch. This switch is actually for a Tundra with factory power steps.

However I want to use this switch for my Rough Country power steps that I got installed to make it a cleaner factory look. It has 6 pins and I am just looking for a diagram to tell me what pins do what.

    Any help would be great.

Do you have the mating connector to that switch?

Yes. However it is from an after market connector company so all the wires will just be black. Once I know what pins do what I can splice the wires from the Rough Country steps. The “auto” function on the switch won’t work like it does on the Tundra but the “on” and “off” will

@caribe makaira Since you are so helpful I have a follow up and really sorry for my ignorance. I am mechanically inclined until it comes to electrical.

I have tried my local installer that did the steps. I have also tried calling @Roughcountry and there technical support cannot help at all.

However I know this can be done as a guy on another forum did it but he has no idea what pins he used.

I have your diagram. I have the plug that goes into this switch with 8 wires coming from it (see pic).

I know the Rough Country switch they provide is a simple on/off switch which also means on the Tundra switch I am installing it will only be on/off and the "auto" function will not work which is fine. Just trying to get the on/off function to work.

OK the question is this. What tool do I need to buy on Amazon? What is the process to test/check which wires on the harness (Tundra switch) to check so I know then which wires I connect to the RC steps. Also how do I check the RC wires to know which one. I hope that makes sense.

    Digital MultiMeter...
Many to choose from, you'll be checking continuity, as in pin(end) to other pin(end).
Question, do the steps have a module for other inputs besides power and the switch?

No. It is simply an on/off switch. I believe just 2 wires. One position the steps work when opening and closing the door. The other position they just stay closed no matter what you do to the door.

Nice, no tapping into the vehicle wires.

Seems switch from Rough Country may have a feature the Tundra switch does not.

I think it is the opposite. The Tundra switch has on, off and auto. RC has just on and off. The other guy that did it says you just can use the on, off from the Tundra switch. The auto function does not work.
