    2023 Tacoma Trail Edition
After driving older Toyota's with higher mileage, I finally purchased my first every new vehicle and picked up a 2023 Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition in Lunar Rock back in October of 2023.

    A few questions, I have.

Need to purchase Tonneau cover for the bed. I don't need rolling so folding with work fine. Prefer lower profile compared to factory version. Are my options limited since I have the factory cargo storage in the bed? I can't get confirmation from Bakflip.

Are the cargo storage bins hard to remove? I saw on a previous post someone had done it.

Thanks for all the help. Glad to be here. Love my Tacoma!

Not to savvy on the Tonneau's but welcome. Lot's of smart folks on here and even more smart asses. Great place to hang out and drink beer and don't forget to check out the Whiskey Thread

Welcome. I have the same truck and want to remove the bed boxes too. It doesn’t look hard. As far at the cover goes, I have the factory and it’s okay. Never really saw the point other than aesthetics. I just (mostly) put mountain bikes back there.
I hope you have a good time with your rig and find the bed cover that suits your needs.
    Go easy.

I went from tonneau to a shell in 3 years. Everyone's different but if I could do it over, I would have gone straight to shell. Welcome to TW

    Welcome!
For a tri-fold style, I’d buy a cheap ass one,,, which goes against my usual. I’d go this route, as they all seem to leak, soak w water and go to hell.
Another thing to consider; the Tacoma’s box is very shallow, so the countersunk covers take up even more of that real estate. Aside from not fitting most coolers, not a big deal. For me, it was a deal breaker.

Hey Atrin, what do you you need the Tonneau for? Will a cab or something else work? Not much love for covers so far, just sayin

I picked up a $400 cover off of Amazon a few years ago, it works fine for me and it's held up against the AZ sun for the past 2 summers.
I don't remember the brand, it wasn't anything popular though.

Welcome! I am also looking at tonneau covers. The lomax is well regarded but a bit expensive. Not sure if the cargo boxes would need to be removed, but the cover and frames sit above the factory location of the bed rails.

Mine came with the factory tri-fold. Good point about the vertical space. Everything about this Toyota bed seems to leak, so you’ll probably want a bed mat, too. (Keeps things from sliding around -and- helps keep things dry.) With the recessed tonneau, you lose a little more space.
