When I changed pads, I did Akebono and have been happy with them.

I've heard Akebono alot too! I ended up going with OEM and just so I can start fresh I got OEM rotors and pads. Spent about 30 minutes bedding them to make sure I did it right and didn't rush anything. Damn it's hard to find a road where I live to bed these LOL.

I saw somewhere about Toyota OEM having two different ID's though and I cannot remember for the life of me where I saw it. But my pads were 04465-04090 and rotors were 43512-04052. So far so good! Crazy how the Brembo's didn't work out. Maybe I just got a shitty pair or something but so far all is good.

@MGMDesertTaco again BIG thanks for all your help.

I installed the same Brembo set of rotors and pads two months ago. Here's my 2 cents :
    1. Braking power feels the same as OEM.
    2. Noise is on the border of unbearable, and I'm saying that as someone who used performance pads on my sport cars. Never have I had such a noisy sqeeky sound while braking. I went to the mechanic to check on the install, and it just fine. The problem is in the rotors and pads combination that is just horrible.

Even though it's brand new, I'm going to replace the pads.
    Any recommendations?

Love my power stop z36 setup. Not as responsive at the top of the pedal as OEM but they manage heat far, far better.

I install powerstop rotors and pads all the time for jobs and run them myself. They are my usual recommendation to customers. Their kits come with everything. Don't grease the slides in the front, it will only attract dirt to them and cause the pads to skip a little on them.

Replace the slides at every brake change in the front too. 2 anti-rattle springs on each caliper is not a bad idea too.

When it comes to pads and rotors, OE. There is nothing better. With aftermarket the best you can hope for is no squeal and minimal dust. Anything beyond that is 'normal'.

I would go back to OEM I have been using OEM rotors and pads on all my vehicles for years and never had any issues.

It’s a thicker rotor and pads so u are going to get noise from them using stock calipers.

+1 for Z36 if anyone else pops in here. Been thru a few different sets of pads on this truck and they are by far my favorite. They have ridiculous bite, are silent, and are dustless. The whole kit with the D/S rotors is cheap as well.

I just looked at the Z36 they are really reasonable I would probably try them just cause you say they are dustless. What about when you are stopping at high speeds do they vibrate/pulsate any at all?

No, if that happens you have other issues with your brake system lol.

The few times I have used aftermarket rotors I have actually got bad ones right out of the box. That’s why I asked about the vibration cause I even returned them got another set same problem had to have them cut to fix the problem. I think it’s just mainly foreign made rotors “cheap” ones not calling out any country in particular lol. Thank you for the reply!

The only time I've really run into any issues like that is when half a job was performed, and fluid was not at the very least bled (though I generally recommend just doing a full flush if the fluid is more than 36 months old). No issues with PowerStop stuff on any vehicle I've tried them on, but I have found their Evolution pads to be subpar for the performance I was looking for in multiple applications. I would say their Extremes are always a safe bet though if they are available for the vehicle.

I also really like Endless pads (I run their SSY's on my Supra), but they are a much more expensive pad.

I'm convinced these Brembo rotors are just trash. They lasted about 2k miles before going absolutely haywire on me; progressively worse vibration, pulsing and noise. Performance was not noticeably better with Brembo rotors and Hawk pads either.

I went back to buying pads and rotors right from the dealership and everything is feeling great again.

Everyone saying stick with OE for brakes on here is 100% right.

They are the same thickness as the OEM parts...or else they wouldn't fit. How did you come up with this theory?
