After-Market Dashcam Mounting

I'm considering an aftermarket Dashcam such as the Vofio A229 Pro. They attach with 3M sticky pads. Has anyone tried mounting that pad on the frits next to the rearview mirror? Does the 3M pad stay attached there? Do the frits rip off if I remove the 3M pad later?

I want the camera tucked up and out of the way similar to the OEM camera. I'm not considering the OEM model because I want both front and rear-facing cameras.

 

Not sure about the 3m pads but mine has a suction cup and they tell you to avoid that area as it may not grip enough.

 

Dot matrix will not pull off. I have stuck a radar detector on it before with 3M double sided tape (different vehicle). I plan to mount the same cam in the same place once it comes in. Even if you watch some of the Vortex Radar YT videos he attaches there as well.

 

I put the OEM cam on that side. Works fine.
