Got it a couple months ago, decided to replace every fluid, including a drain and fill for the auto transmission.
Removed the transmission oil pan, replaced the filter, and installed back.
According to some literature found and advise from fellow members about the amount of oil, i poured 2 quarts inside.
Drove it for 10 miles and noticed slipping. Came back and poured some more, no more slipping, but so far 5 quarts have gone inside and still marks in the dipstick like is on cold temp.
I droce the car 30 miles, parked at a gas station, put in park for 4 min, checked the oil and still not in the hot marks.
I don’t remember i drained so much oil.
Any ideas? The oil check process i am using is the correct?

It’s hard to say since your description doesn’t really state exactly what you did step by step. How many qts came out vs what you put in?

    You are correct.
My mistake. I didn’t measure the amount of oil drained.
    Level was good before replacing.
    The real question here is:
Is the level check procedure correct?
Also I forgot to mention, this might be a stupid question, anyway:
This was done at the mechanic.
He sprayed the funnel with brake cleaner for cleaning the funnel and just used it to fill without fully drying the brake cleaner in the funnel.
The mechanic said it will evaporate, anyway wanted to hear other opinions.
Will that contaminate the transmission oil? Thank you in advance for your answer.

I’m sorry but I do not have a dip stick so my procedure is different than yours. I can’t imagine your manual wouldn’t detail exactly on how to check it. As far as cleaning the funnel, I wouldn’t worry about that, the important thing he did was get and dirt and grime out of the funnel before it ended up in your engine. The residue from the spray is insignificant, and like he said it probably evaporated. If you don’t have your manual , a google search for your year should be easy to find.

To check the transmission fluid level in a 2007 Toyota Tacoma, you can follow these steps:

    1. 1. Warm up the engine
Turn on the engine and let it run for a few minutes so it reaches its normal operating temperature. This will help ensure an accurate reading.

    2. 2. Find the dipstick
Consult your owner's manual to locate the transmission fluid dipstick. On most front-wheel drive Toyotas, it's to the right of the oil dipstick.

    3. 3. Remove the dipstick
Pull out the dipstick and use your fingers to feel the fluid.

    4. 4. Check the fluid
The fluid should be mostly clear with a pinkish hue. If it looks dirty, cloudy, or smells burnt, you should have a mechanic check it out.

    5. 5. Add fluid if needed
If the fluid level isn't at the “Full” marking, add more fluid using a funnel.Be careful not to overfill.

    6. 6. Reinsert the dipstick
Wipe off the dipstick and put it back in. Wait a minute or so, then pull it out again to check the level.

    The procedure is.
Pour the oil in until it reaches cold full.
Start the truck, cycle the gear shifter thought ALL gears.
    Shut off truck.
    Check oil level.
If low, add to cold full.
If full, drive truck until it is warm
    Shut off truck. Check level.
See if it is at FULL warm. If not, add to Full warm mark.

Do all this on level ground.

Hello there, this is getting more confusing.
I posted a few pictures of the steps.
Checked the transmission oil this morning without starting the car, cold check, the level was on the Hot area in the dipstick.
Then turned the car for a few minutes, drove it around until temperature reached normal center. Parked the car, put it in P(park), let it sit for 4 min, started checking the transmission oil again and now is in the cold mark.
Any ifeas? Its not supposed to be the opposite? Sorry my ignorance, that is the reason i ask for your knowledge.
Car got 5 quarts poured after drain and fill, but it didn’t feel it drained so much. Otherwise i have to note the car drives great. any ideas?

To bet installed: bling grill, headlights, fog lights.
I’d guess there was some air that worked its way out.

Did you check the fluid before servicing it? If so, was it pink? Brown and stinky is bad.

Others here are schmardter than me. Listen to them.

Drives good probably means is good.

Like others have asked, how much did you drain out?

fluid was dark so my mechanic did the drain and fill.
Its confusing that in the cold marks hot and when hot marks cold.

Didn’t measure it, my mechanic did the drain and fill, he removed the oil pan and replaced the filter also.
Its confusing to see the first oil check cold all the way to the hot mark and then when warm in the cold mark.
My understanding is the opposite way.

Maybe just take it back you the mechanic that did the work and have them look at it.

Dont turn it off to check the transmission, always check an automatic transmission with the engine running in park unless service info or the dipstick says otherwise.
