Recommend/advise on little battery jumper boxes

Im trying to select one of those handy-dandy battery jumper boxes and I dont know enough to make a wise choice.
My truck is a 2017.5 Tacoma SR with the weeniest engine Toyota ever made. Some of these jumper boxes go up to 6000A. Why would I want all that? Can I just get one of these chingaderas with 2000A of power for my little granny truck? They go down to 800A! I found one with 1000A for $27!
And is there any such thing as a good brand anymore? Im inclined toward Schumacher because Im old, but they are much pricier. So Avapow? Nexpow? Gooloo? I found a 2500A Nexpow reduced from $200 to $57. That seems reasonable. And I heard some of these mini boxes are one-time use only, but nothing I looked at says that. Still, Id rather have a rechargeable unit.
Any advice or insights?

I have a Sanrock, rated at 2500 amps. It is rechargeable. It works well. I have used it on two other vehicles, besides my own. I would buy another. Because I am cheap, the cost was low (maybe $50), but I do not remember.

 

I bought an Aamaozn brand one based on a "testing" youtube channel review but it couldn't start my lawnmower and a few weeks later they stopped selling them.. I love my Noco brand ones, have one in every car. Catch them on sale for Prime day coming up. GB40 is one for normal car engines, up to a v8 I think it says.

The amp ratings are complete Chinese BS.. The wires on them can't handle 6000 amps..

 

Noco is the gold standard (Noco Genius Boost). With how shitty (and dangerous) cheap knockoff electronics and lithium batteries can be, especially when stored in a car that gets hot, and how important starting a car is, I'd really recommend going with a known brand and not an Amazon / Alie Express special.

I have the GB40 and it works well, super easy to use. Technically the GB20 should be fine (they claim up to 4.0L gas engine starting), but I figured a little extra capacity wouldn't hurt.

By the way, the 2.7L you have is the toughest 4 cylinder Toyota ever made. It just wasn't designed to play well with a 2 ton truck.

I think you're forgetting about the 2.4 from earlier Tacomas, in terms of raw power disappointment.

 

Noco

 

Noco is a very good brand of battery jump boxes and chargers, if you are using it regularly I think the price is justified. I am somewhat bias since I owned a GB70 for at the dealership and it struggled to jump start mid sized suv even fully charged after about a year.
If you are shopping for a small jump box to keep in case your battery dies I would recommend a random Amazon one with good reviews, I bought one for about $60 that lasted about 5 years and replaced it with another random amazon one for about the same price. I admit with both of mine that I've probably only used them for a total of 6-8 times.
The random amazon ones can only jump start maybe twice before needing a rechard, thats jump starting a V6 engine like the 4.0L, the wires are definatly not strong enough to jump start a diesel unless you buy one like a noco.
I think the biggest issue is to make sure to check the charge level at least once every three month even if you didn't use it, if I had to choose between the biggest best jump box thats not been charged in 3 years and a random amazon jump box that was charged 2 months ago, I would want to use the amazon jump box.
I keep mine behind my rear seats, I haven't done it but I've thought of routing a charging cable to it with a switch on the dash.

NOCO GB40. Quality matters when you want to trap all of those electrons in a tiny space ... case-in-point the Tesla battery fires. I recharge mine every month and the charge takes all of 15 minutes while it "trickle charges" the tiny gap that was lost.

Noco gbx45 or something. Either way, I’ve had to use it once to help someone in a parking lot with a dead battery and it did what it was supposed to.

I bought her off the showroom floor, basically no extras, but with a pretty trim package, and was super happy until I drove into a stair cutout in tall grass over a ravine. So there she dangled, teetering with the passenger front wheel in midair, and the driver's rear wheel unable to get enough purchase to back out. The tow driver explained the whole positraction thing, but he said my truck was a prissy little one-wheel drive and dont ever try to tow anything or even drive through mud. I was humiliated, and ashamed I bought a "girlie" truck that had no guts, but that "one-wheel drive" cut me to my soul. So Im very glad to hear a little praise for the motor. She may not be able to do much, but I reckon she'll be doing it a long time!

 

I have a NOCO Boost HD GB70. I think I have jumped my Expedition four, maybe five times before I had to recharge it. Keep forgetting to unplug the dashcam. The size is great for slipping it under a seat or in the rear cubbies in the Taco.

Those folks are mighty proud of their little boxes. That GB20 only gives 500A, and they want $79 for it, and the GB40, even more! I cant imagine 500 amps would jump start a car. It wasnt enough to start my old weedeater on my little old inverter box! But Ima go read up on them and why theyre so preferred. Thanks!

 

Uh, the tow truck driver sounds like a dick. I don't know where you live, but unless you deal with a lot of snow / ice and hills, the 2wd does fine.

Your truck should have the Auto LSD, I think all 3rd gens do, which is an electronic limited slip (and Positraction is just a limited slip brand name). I think you press the button with the car with squiggly lines under it to turn it on (the owner's manual will be more clear). It won't always help if you have a wheel hanging in the air, but it's better than nothing.

 

NOCO hands down.

I have several of their battery maintainers and the GB40 jumper. Holds a charge a long time. It's overkill for the TACO, but fires up a 5.7l Chebby and a 1.8l Kubota with ease. It'll turn over a 6.8 V10 Ford, but not enough beans to fire it too.
