Someone gave him 2 of them, the other one he got it freed and changed the gas and it fired right up. It has to be something simple but I can not figure it out.....yet.

That's the next thing I'm going to do, pull the screen. Got to take the engine off the frame to get to the front screws that hold the cover on.

I had string trimmer that got left in the rain.

The rain water blocked the exhaust. That thing started right up after I removed the spark arester and poured out the water.

    Do a compression test?
    Timing?

Try another spark plug. I had one once that would spark nicely outside the cylinder but not when installed it seemed. Changed the plug and it fired immediately.

I put a brand new spark plug in it, still nothing. It has compression. Haven't put a gauge on it.

It ain’t got no gas in it

seriously I had an old blower that the carb started coming loose from the intake. Wouldn’t run until I snugged it back up. Did you do the ole check the plug to see if it’s flooded or dry? Does this carb have a float that’s stuck and needs a wack like my old pile of crap craftsman PW I gave away? Did someone put straight gas in it and burn a hole in the piston?

Well, I was mistaken when I said it had compression. It has a little resistance on the rope, lol.

Pulled the muffler, screen is clean. Piston has grooves galore.

My money is on someone ran it with straight gas and that’s why it was locked up.

Hard to get a photo but that’s the piston through the exhaust port.

Oh yea that things toast. You be surprised how many people have zero clue about a small 2 stroke. My neighbor bought a brand new Stihl farm boss and used it once. When I asked how the saw was doing he said it was a pos it won’t start. I said did you check the plug? New saws are prone to foul a plug here and there. He was ready to take it back lol. I told him to clean the plug and he decided to order a new plug. OK….dont throw the old one away. I said to read the manual which he didn’t do. Then when his plug got in I showed him how to replace it. Started right up.
