I just replaced the original clutch in my 2008 at around 240,000 miles. Before I post pictures, who wants to guess what condition it was in?

But did you install the ORD throwout bearing mod?

When/If I do my clutch that will be high on the list. I installed one on an FJ with the 6MT (same trans) and it went together very well.

I did. It needed it about 100k miles ago. That quill was seriously worn down, and the bearing sounded like sandpaper. I flushed out the old clutch fluid while I was down there (it was black), and at first I thought I didn't install something right. I can barely feel the clutch now. It was that bad.

Bought my '87 Ranger with a 5 sp manual and drove it to the junkyard with 196,000 plus miles on it and never replaced the clutch. I learned how to drive it without using the clutch and only used the clutch when I had to make a full stop or start it. Of course, some drivers behind me weren't very happy.

Hahah damn, I’m coming up on this mileage and maintenance job soon. Curious how mine will be. I feel like I can probably go another 100k on this thing but I know it needs it so might as well get it done. Probably in the springtime.

I need to really sit down and figure out what I should do while it’s apart. As far as upgrades/mods. Like that FJ pedal or whatever. I know that’s buried somewhere deep in the back of my brain as to why I wanted to do it. Amongst other things I suppose

I’m the second owner. Most of the damage was done before I bought it. In all fairness though, it has 35’s and the final coup de grace involved crossing the Rocky Mountains with a likely 10k lb trailer

    speaking of that

I notice a large amount of play between my pedal and it actuating the master cylinder (replaced)

almost like years of use has worn play into where they meet and making a gap
    Unless it comes like that

    either way. Metal > plastic
