I know that there are tons of threads on this but don't know a thing about this and pretty overwhelmed with the choices... I know there are caps/shells (not really sure the difference) but not at all familiar with the variations in flat covers. I currently have a Yakama rack for kayaks and need to keep some way to haul those even when I am pulling a TT. Would like some way to keep some bed storage out of the weather and secure it and a couple gas cans under it for longer, more remote trips. Where to start? Is there a good rundown on options for newbies somewhere? I don't want to totally cheap out but don't want to spend multiple thousands either. This is for a 2023 Tacoma with short bed.

Lomax - check their site. They make bed covers and racks that are compatible with bed covers.

Yakima racks work with the T-slot rails on a RetraxOneXR, using an adapter system (Yakima Tonneau Kit 1, I think?). You will lose a bit of bed space with this setup, because the tonneau rolls down into a canister mounted at the front of the bed.
