    2014 Tacoma 4 cylinder automatic
New member introduction. I've had 5 different Toyota vehicles in my life so far. My most recent one is the one I'm driving now. Bertha is a 2014 automatic transmission 4 cylinder truck with almost 192,000 miles on her. Recently I have just started replacing some fuses and one in particular I've had to replace is so I could put it in gear. It's a 10 amp fuse that is labeled stop. There was a 15 in there before but the box calls for a 10. I've replaced it 2 times then it goes into gear. This time no dice so I replaced a lager one that says 50 on box that says abs, still nothing. I can push the button on the gear shift and put it in gear that way but tail and brake lights do Not work. They might flash a little while putting it in gear while the button is pressed. Is there any other fuses that I need to replace or check that are under the hood or under the steering wheel. Transmission fluid looks good . Checked it immediately and it read hot immediately when I just started her up. I didn't know if that was normal or not. Any info would be helpful because taking it to a Toyota dealership or mechanic that won't screw you over is hard to find in my area. My next step is taking off the positive post of my battery to just restart computer but my hook up to check computer odc? isn't working so don't know if that will help but my friend suggested that. This is the reason why I am here and any information on anything to do with an automatic 2nd gen Taco would be grateful and appreciated. Especially when it would be about mechanic advice in Jackson Tennessee area. This is 75 miles east of Memphis on I 40. Thank you. What do these cable attachments go to? Pic added

First off all: Welcome to TacomaWorld! You'll like it here.

One word of caution: Replacing a blown fuse with a higher amperage rating to resolve an issue is not a good idea: even temporarily. It risks overheating all of the components and wiring on the circuit the fuse is protecting with the delayed reaction the bigger fuse allows. 50 amps is a very "big" fuse: meant for heavy loads.

You are better off using the shifter manual-button over-ride to get by until you resolve the electrical issue that is causing the overload problem.
