If you're thinking about a DCLB just buy a 1/2 ton extended cab. With a DCLB Tacoma you get all of the disadvantages of a full size truck and none of the advantages. With a 1/2 ton you get the same wheelbase, a larger rear seat, but with a 6 1/2' bed that is both wider and deeper. About the same fuel mileage too. But the Tacoma DCLB still has a smaller cab with about 1/2 the towing and payload of a 1/2 ton even though it's the same length.

I bought a Tacoma because I wanted something small and easy to maneuver. I've had the 5' bed for 17 years now and still haven't found anything I can't haul where another 12" in the bed would matter.

I was initially interested in a f-150 1/2 ton super crew 5.5' bed. Would have been a lot more comfortable for my family and met my current hauling needs. In the end I decided to make it work with my DCLB Sport. Main reason was long term reliability and resale. Also, they are very plentiful here in Canada. Actually wanted the DCLB Off-Road in 6' bed but not available here.

What is it so hard to find a double cab Tacoma with a 6’ bed? Is there something bad about them? I know one gets a Tacoma for the compactness of this size truck but it seems the extra foot would come in handy on many occasions.

Do you mean new or used?

If used, my guess is the 6' people are happy and drive their Tacoma forever and the 5' people are selling it to get a 6'?

If new, easy, just do a factory order through the fleet agent at your dealer.

Only manual sports had them, and eventually in 3rd gen the offroad/pro model got it.

It's rare to see a 5 foot bed here. Almost all of our sports are double cab long box.

So travel north lol.

I really wanted a brand new 2018 AC Ferd F150 FX4 with the 5.0. Very capable, and awesome looking truck but no MT option... so here i am

No ragrets!
