We live in a world where people have posted less-than-wholesome things on the internet, resulting in people getting so riled that they start harassing employers in a bid to get the less-than-wholesome person fired. And as a result, many companies have adopted strange social media policies that basically say "keep it somewhat professional."

That said, social media digging usually doesn't happen until you agree to the background check. People might run a cursory google prior to the interview as part of the prep. (And as an interviewee, I do the same, I will absolutely google the hiring manager's name and compile it in with the company research. Usually what I find gives me clues into values they find important, and thus gives me a leg up when I tailor my tone to the meeting.) I doubt that they are googling after the interview, however. Most people don't.

@BarcelonaTom67 @mit88 I might suggest reaching out to a few prior interviews via friendly email and ask "I hope your hiring process went well. Would you mind providing some feedback of my interview so that I might better present myself as a strong candidate to future employers?" You would probably get some honest answers.
