So most of the time that I've noticed when sitting at a red light at idle my truck bucks atleast once almost as if someone has rear ended me but obviously not. Rpms seem to stay the same but curious if anyone else has had that problem... thanks

can't say I've noticed anything similar on my 2014. only "bucking" I've noticed is when shifting from N/P to D/R and giving it a bit too much gas too soon, or shifting from reverse to drive, both of which are normal to my understanding.

Sure have. And it's always when the A/C or Defrost is on.
    It's normal.

I was sitting traffic and got slightly rear ended, thought it was just that tacoma jerk that usually happens when sitting in traffic or at a light for while. I have read that it is normal.

    Mine does it. Super annoying.
Why or how it does, I would love to know.

I think I’ve read somewhere that it could be the transmission shifting back to first after you stop. Mine does it too. If holding the brake lightly when it does this the truck ever so slightly shifts forward.

im not sure how to stop it from happening but I believe it’s this. Mine does it regardless of what the climate controls are set to. It’s pretty wild.

I don’t think there is a fix. It’s a clunky 5 speed truck transmission designed in the mid 2000’s. It’s just how it is.

Are you guys coming up to a stop fast? I usually roll up to stops slow and never experienced it (i have upgraded leaf packs though.) I wonder if it's axle wrap?

Doesn't happen immediately when stopping, happens about 20-30 seconds of sitting on the brake

Splines in the driveshaft are dry and sticking. Take it apart after marking it, clean the old dried grease out, re-grease it well, reassemble matching marks. Kind of a PITA when they have a boot. RedNtacky works fine.

Pretty sure its a symptom of the hydraulically assisted brake booster. Mine has been doing this for a few years now too and its always shortly after coming to a stop. I don't believe it's indicative of axle wrap. It feels more like the brakes give out slightly before catching again but I haven't confirmed this through testing.

There have been complaints about these trucks lurching forward unexpectedly since they were released. As long as your foot is firmly on the brake, any axle wrap or AC compressor kicking in should not move your vehicle at all.
