I was visiting with my buddy today, met in high school, we’re now 67. Joking about having to fix stuff we already have fixed, 30 - 40 years ago. He has some rotted 6x6 posts we put in 40 years ago. We just kinda laughed about it.

I'm there... Remembering Dad saying, "I didn't think I'd ever have to replace those fence posts." Lodgepole pine fence posts that we hand logged from a USFS post and (mostly) pole sale (saves the FS from paying a thinning contractor), continuing with FS firewood permits to salvage standing dead wood (more posts that way plus firewood), hand peeling and treating with oil and penta in a soak barrel. Those posts lasted forty years, while my early Trex decking has an advertised life of 15. The dry year has brought reports from the orchards north of Spokane that their apples are smaller and less plentiful than usual.
Ruffed Grouse are beautiful! I've been reading Joel Vance's Upland Bird Hunting of late, likely from my OutDoor Life Book Club membership in the early '80s. Looking forward to getting out with the expeditionary stock rig next year! Grandkids want to go fishing, and I have Grumman's aluminum version of the Maine Guide boat to tow along... :fingerscrossed::taco:

    Morning.
Going to pull my mums window ac units out today.
One is rotted out. The other doesn’t cool.
    Time for the dump.
    $40 and see ya.
I’m going to back up right to the windows and yank them out and set them right in the truck. Won’t have to carry them through the house and down stairs.

Covering my cold air discharge fan for the utility room today. Since the furnace is on now I don’t need it.

I might run the leaf sweeper today instead of tomorrow if the wind is calm.

35° here....well below normal for us this time of year. It's been chilly all week (not complaining). We'll be back to seasonal temps next week though.

Got the day off. Not much planned. I might clean the Corolla. It needs it.

Nothing at the moment. Just waiting for the sun to show it's face so I can get a couple of things done. I need to swing by the dealership and snag some oil filters and gas up the rig
