I've been a member here a long time (forget my old username/password/etc) and long time reader (which is why I haven't logged in so long that I forget). Haven't really seen a thread on rear drum prices despite searching. (The search function has gotten worse).

2017 regardless. Did my front brakes two weeks ago (@90k miles) all is good there. Went with Element 3, pads and rotors. Good prices.

Going to do the rears next year. I cannot find any decent drums other than chinesium BS for less than around 150 or 170, EACH. Just the drums.

Is this normal or am I looking in the wrong spots? (Haven't been to my local parts guy yet as I cannot drive due to medical conditions). The rotors were ~70$ a piece if not a bit less. How can drums be more than rotors? The opposite is true from my experience over the last 20+ years with every other vehicle I've owned.

I went with the PowerStop kit from RockAuto.
    Less than $200.

No problems other than the spring kit.
I'd go with an OEM spring kit.

At 90k, I’d be surprised if you need new drums. How bad are they?

Looks like they're just under $100 from multiple sources.

I doubt they "need" replacing, but being in the rust belt and the fact that brake components are one of the only things I can't treat for winter, they are quite rusty already. When I did the fronts I also cleaned/ inspected the rear and there was a lot of shoe dust and rust. I'd rather replace everything a bit early just to make sure it doesn't rust to the point that it becomes a major PITA to do.

Yearly undercoating of FF has kept the vast majority of the rest of the truck basically rust free, except for the random bracket here and there. Frame is totally rust free. Also helps my wife mostly drives it now and only has a 15 min commute.

Thanks for the links and recommendations, I'll get an OEM hardware kit and do a bit more research.
