Gross. Good luck with those enormous blind spots! Nothing like a truck that sucks at being a truck and has about as much visibility as a Lamborghini Countach. But, hey at least it's fast and expensive.

Back on August 1st I had 30 years at work. I finally got my cake today.
    Someone goofed up.

    20241017_173053.jpg

Tomorrow a guy in the main plant named Dale is getting a cake that says,

    Congratulations Dan
    On 30 years

I waited 30 years to get my carrot cake with cream cheese frosting.
I get a lemon cake with vanilla frosting.

Been offline for a couple days now being off grid and visiting family. Sharing a few more photos to entertain while I remember. Petroglyphs in ABQ were a bust, trailhead signs basically say “your car will be broken in to” so I said nope and headed west. Way out in the middle of all the reservations is El Malpais National Monument. Quick highlight and easy hike to La Ventana natural arch which is like 170ft and 2nd largest in the state.

    IMG_8196.jpg

Huge, massive volcanic plateaus and cinder cones all along I-40 west all the way to Gallup and beyond. Had no idea this was out here. Incomprehensibly large rocks.

    IMG_8203.jpg

Spent a night in another national forest campsite that was incredibly well maintained and remote; on a Tuesday I was the only one there.

    IMG_8206.jpg

Went to El Morro National Monument and hiked to the top of the rock for fantastic panoramas:

    IMG_8217.jpg

And to see ancient stone buildings built on top of the same rock.

    IMG_8220.jpg

Stopped at a place that advertised an “ice cave” where ice never melts. First part of that hike was a path up to the edge of a dormant/extinct volcano cinder cone that drops down 800 feet.

    IMG_8228.jpg

Ice cave definitely has ice which is kinda crazy. Doesn’t photograph all that well and has some green algae on some of it.

    IMG_8230.jpg

Dispersed camp at the foot of the Organ Mountains in Las Cruces where my parents live. Sunrise was rainy and 40mph winds but worth seeing. Couple more days here and back on the road. I’ve eaten so many delicious real authentic tacos and burritos here I may turn into one but oh my are they on a different level than back home.

    IMG_8239.jpg

I’ve been using mostly my prehistoric 2WD aka hiking since my foot feels a bit better. But I have used 4WD in a couple spots you just didn’t see because I don’t have a photographer like we have in Tigerton. Plus I’ve heard from old gurus on these here forums that 4WD is overrated or something like that.

Congrats on 30 years. Hope the cakes got sorted. Good reminder to everyone to take time off and enjoy life when you can because work is important but we are often not much more important to them than a typo on a cake order.

Your boss sounds like a real jerk.

So... seems like there is some tongue in cheek here; but, I can say that I have yet to find a reliable gas oil alternative. Just say'in.

    Definitely sarcasm.
You're saying you've yet to find something more reliable than Ironman? or just a reliable gas/oil in general?

What shocks have you had problems with?

Edit: I know you said your rears are shot. But how many miles are on them?

So... I had a rock crawler in the 90's. Now I have my Tacoma. I have yet to find a reliable shock-then or now. My experience (only, yours may vary) is that I spend several thousand on shocks and get 15-20k miles, max. Spend $50 get 100k. WTF!!! My Dobisons are a year old, barely 10k on them. I was expecting more... and when I spoke with Mike, again, I expected more. I think this may be on me, but no way to know until I get a replacement again for north 1k and send them off. I am just pissy because this is something that I think should last longer. I am NOT desert racing so they never see heat-why wear out. Anyway-bag on Iron man but something that works and lasts is golden in my opinion. Have yet to see it from the big "cool" kid name brands. Getting desperate now, so may have to drop some cash on a new player and see if they can make it make sense. Rant over...
