We're eventually going to do the new Armada for our SUV, or a minivan. Gotta give Nissan a good 2 to 3 years to get their stuff right before buying one. Really wanted the sequoia but that cargo/uneven floor situation doesn't work for me.

$170 for a tank of petrol ... You could almost buy a large cup of coffee at Starbucks for that.

I have two car seats in the back of mine. It's tight but it works. You sound like you have your mind made up for the F150 though. Get whatever allows you to sleep at night.

The 5.0 is a beautifully reliable engine, the 10 speed is decent, it came out around 2018 and had a few issues for the first few years but the wrinkles seem to be ironed out. I wasn't sure if they still offered the 6 speed transmission as a option, that was a good simple transmission.
With kids I would recommend a mini van, I'm planning on selling my Tacoma soonest to buy a CRV for future child planning, then figure once we have two kids get a mini van. People like to make fun of mini vans but they are damn versatile.

RIP 6R80, my ideal not regular heavy towing F150 would be a 2015-2017 F150 with the 3.7L and 6R80, if I needed to tow regularly I'd switch to a 5.0L

The 5.0s good but the 3.5L is the king of towing. The 3.5L makes the most torque and at much lower RPMs

The minivan game in the US is pathetic. I wish we had more options. That new Kia Carnival looks awesome but it's 2 wheel drive. I can't believe more car companies haven't figured out that the market for "Off Road" SUV like minivan is there and waiting to be tapped. I'm not saying I want to do any offroading in a minivan, but a higher ground clearance, rugged-ish minivan with sliding doors and real AWD along with all the bells and whistles would be amazing.

You've kinda answered your own question more than once. You seem to say that you're going to end up with an Armada or similar. I wouldn't wait 2-3 years. Nissan and most iron out kinks after 1 year. Getting the f150 then getting an Armada in 2-3 doesn't make sense to me. I'd just keep and make do with the Taco then get Armada or whatever when you're ready.

My buddy has the Powerboost Hybrid F150. I'm not gonna lie and say I haven't thought about it. Big and beautiful. The more I thought about it the more I realized it would be an impulse novelty purchase. I hardly tow, haul or even have rear seat passengers now in my Tacoma. I'd have all that extra "truck stuff" just to say I did.

I had a gen 3 taco - and I Lovvvvved it! Nimble, fun to drive and could go anywhere. (I know preaching to the choir).

I sold it in 2022 because the resale market was great. Fast forward, we have an addition to the family and wanted to get a new truck- this year I almost bought another taco but opted for a GMC sierra instead.

My reasons were that I need a truck so i can do truck things- and the cabin is spacious.
For two people a taco crew cab feels maxed out. Yes I've had 5 adults in mine. But it felt cramped anytime i did so.

the GMC has copious amounts of room, and for me, is more family friendly.

Most 1/2 ton trucks can are the same. If you are going to do truck things ever, and are going to have more than two people in it- I'd recommend the F150.

if it's just two of you and off roading is a priority- the taco

How hard was it get rid of the taco? I'm having a hard time giving mine up. Especially considering given Ford's roll of the dice reliability.

As much as I hate to say it , every time I’ve given GM or Ford a shot in the past , I got burnt sooner or later . I’ve had good luck with Honda cars , Nissan Frontiers great trucks , and Toyota . Never once been burned . I’ve gotten to a point where I don’t even consider the others . Now are they better now ?Maybe
But I won’t take the risk anymore. Now if they gave me a truck for free, then I would Test it for them lol

I would've bought an F-150 if I found one comparable to the Tacoma price wise.
Tacoma checks all the boxes for my needs.

They have to work out the engine stuff, and whatever else comes out of that. I just love how the F150 rides, and that V8 is pretty nice.
