Just noticed this. On the roof of my 2024, on both sides, the channel is all wavy. Is everyone's tacoma like this? Looks wrong to me. One side shown. It's almost like it's missing molding or something, but why all wavy?

Yea, they put both body colored (wavy) and black. So mine has silver and black. The black is over roof rack mount points.

I think thats normal for new gen first years. I had 2017 Taco before and bumper wasn't even aligned. Traded it in for fresh last year model and you can tell bit differences. I am sure its nothing to worry about, although the truck is expensive.

Looks like my 13 and 14 both

When it loses sheen in a couple years you won't notice it as much

thats the self leveling silicone that mounts the roof panel to the rest of the truck...
Ford f150's amongst many other new vehicles are similar.
Some finishes are more level / smoother than others.

Yea it's not metal. When you dig through it to get to the roof rack mounts, its some sort of foam/goo with the body paint sprayed on top of it. It's really an interesting material.

Just as long as it’s not loose or squeals in the wind (I’ve experienced both issues), it’s fine. It may look like chewed bubble gum, but that finish is quality-inspected and released from the factory as normal. Sigh.

Looks a little worse than my last three Tacos (unpainted strips), so an easy fix might be to just try not to look at it for the next five years or so.

    Not so funny story...
My neighbor had a rock thrown at his aluminum f150, right center at the 3rd brake light....
Made a huge crater & roof need to be replaced cuz of it....
He hit me-up after he dropped it off at Caliber Collision...
I was preaching to him how my place of work "ford dealer" was best in the business when it came to bodyshop repairs & especially our own product...
Well it was after the fact & he was too lazy to pull the truck out of their....

    They literally DESTROYED his truck....
The silicone self leveling adhesive looked like the Rocky Mountains, they actually used the wrong glue if I remember correctly.
He showed me after he got the truck back, i picked out about 10 mistakes / flaws, then quickly drove it to my main senior estimator who like 2 minutes away.
On the drive over I can here wind-noise coming through front windshield, turns out windshield wasnt glued back in place straight cuz it couldnt be, due to the fact the roof wasnt installed straight, causing alignment / interference issue...
Estimator found a crap ton more, I was like in awww.....
    Hacks!!!!
Was hacked so bad, they had to replace the frame that the back cab glass mounts to, behind the bed...
Needless to say, he didnt take it back to Caliber, we stepped-up, called his insurance company, said were taking over from this point & they needed to send a claims adjuster out to look at this butchery....
Insurance company pretty much lost their ass on this one along with pretty sure Calibers payment was revoked....
Off-topic but interesting experience none the less...
If very familiar with that bubblegum...
