Every single morning I mutter to myself, "whelp, my computer password still works, I guess I'm not getting escorted out today."

I had a friend who worked in IT - he put in 2 weeks notice and not 20 minutes later all his email accounts/network/computer access got cut off; he was told they would pay him for the 2 weeks but his services were no longer required

Yea, I know it should be possible but I've seen people who somehow got water into an electrical connection and spent the next chunk of their life trying to sort out WTF they fried.. so I just leave it dusty - makes it easier to see if somethin leaked ;)

Smart business decision. If he was a disgruntled employee, as an IT person, he could have been very destructive. We do the same here. IT doesn't get a grace period. You're gone, we'll pay you for your two weeks notice.

I was thinking about putting in my 6 year notice on Monday :fingerscrossed:

The only place where I worked the full 2 weeks was when the next place was arranging a relocation package.

When I gave notice earlier this year it was particularly nasty - I sent my email and gave my exit interview directly to HR 10 minutes later, during which my laptop, phone, and lab notebooks were taken from my desk. I wasnt even allowed enough time to tell them to kiss my ass on the way out.

I agree that it was a smart decision but it left a bunch of clients in the lurch without an alternate point of contact for a week or so..

It was also less of a company policy and more of an - my boss tried to extort me, was pissed I didn't cave and so this is his 'retribution' . . .
The boss was/is a sociopath and all around not/good/person

I'm the IT Manager, and first on scene each morning (better parking) so it will be interesting when I give them my (3 year?) notice. I have 2 staffers now, but for about 16 of the last 20 I was an Army of One.

I made a mistake on a request from the CEO. We had a scheduled meeting at 9 today, but he requested I answer on Wed what I thought was part of today's meeting.
I go to the meeting place at 8:55. CEO door is closed, my boss's light is off. At 9:30 I'm about to leave when I see HR, boss, CEO all come out together. That's when I figured I was done. No explanation why they were 30 minutes late, and I didn't ask. I haven't been told to disable anyone else's accounts so far.

While I *might* answer the phone when I retire, if escorted out the door I certainly won't. buBYEEEE

I hate those scenarios. 99% of the time it has nothing to do with you and you wind up ruining your weekend mulling over a nothingburger. And then on that one magic occasion, enjoy that PIP. At least that's been the way with me.
