    Hello folks!

Happy to be making this post to introduce myself and to learn from you all about all things Tacoma! I have always admired the Tacoma but have never pulled the trigger on one. I just bought my (our) first Tacoma for my son who is going away for college a few hours away from home and we wanted to get him something that would last and would hopefully be a reliable vehicle for years to come. We just pulled the trigger on a 2024 SR5 Doublecab 4x4 Tacoma, and area starting to look at things he can do to make it his own.

I read through a lot of information about the concerns with the revamped Tacoma that has been causing some people issues with transmissions and starters, but I also believe Toyota will stand behind their vehicles and make things right for owners (maybe wishful thinking). To give me peace of mind, I bought the extended warranty from the dealership to cover any issues that may come with the new generation model.

I am a little concerned and unsure if I should have bought the warranty at this point, because it seems ANY modification on the vehicle will conceivably void the extended warranty. Something a simple as a leveling kit will void any parts associated in any way with suspension with this minor mod. I asked my local dealership about it, and they said they will honor the warranty ONLY if they do it, but I don't know how much I believe the guy because when I asked for that in writing I still haven't gotten anything back.

How are you guys addressing mods? Are you just throwing caution to the wind and hoping for the best, OR do I just need to ride this thing stock until the warranty is up? It kinda seems like it defeats some of the purpose of getting a Tacoma (that has TONS of aftermarket mods) if it voids the warranty. I even read on the Toyota website that putting a different size tires on the vehicle can void the warranty. If it wasn't a new generation vehicle, I probably wouldn't put as much thought into it, but I guess I am gunshy about reading issues people are having and don't want to do anything that would bite me in the ass down the road.

Looking forward to reading through the threads to see how people navigate this, or if I am just overthinking it!!! Hell, if it is going to void the extended warranty, I may try to get a refund on it and just turn that money into more mods that we can put into the truck! HA
