I have a stock 2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport 141k miles and recently installed a new Toyota engine air filter, cleaned MAF sensor with a specific MAF cleaner, and cleaned the throttle body (it was dirty) with the throttle body cleaner.

Everything is on tight and when I drive now the truck usually would get AVG Tank 21MPG now it gets around 18.5MPG. I got a new serpentine belt but other than that nothing else was done but the MPGs suddenly dropped and now the truck has a sluggish acceleration and the Mpgs on the dash I can see just dropped than before. I have not changed spark plugs but before all that stuff^ it was running fine- and I had the original engine air filter replaced with a new engine air filter straight from Toyota that was just a little slimmer but noticiable and they said the new ones are like that- also tires are about 55k miles but before the work on engine they were running fine. I just want to get any ideas. Thanks!

Is the check engine light on?
Have you hooked up a scanner to see if there are any pending codes?

Hard to say for sure, but the MAF sensors are very touchy and it's possible something was damaged when cleaning.

No check engine light, just slower acceleration and lower mpgs.

Did have the tires changed or rotated?
    Off alignment could contribute too.

Just changed the spark plugs and runs much better. Still haven’t had enough mpg data but it’s a little better.

I would recommend that you check/change the PCV valve and consider changing the spark plugs if you are close to 60k miles or the next interval.

I did all of that around the same time and the engine runs better and quieter, but not necessarily better gas mileage.

Sorry, I just read that you changed the plugs in a follow up post. However, I do recommend the PCV valve change especially if you have never done it.

I've never got over 18mpg to begin with. Winter blend fuel hitting your area?

My lifetime average is 14.8 and I get about 17.5 mpg max. Even when I was stock. Must be nice to only get 18.5!

Mine is same, 17-18 at bone stock and no towing, daily driving. I just figured they get lousy gas mileage. 30,000mi.
