Is a light supposed be on the box itself?

I wired everything, red power pigtail from the camera is connected to the 12v + out.

The camera powers because it will feed an image if I put it on the R-cam connection. But no sound or lights from the box. I have nothing when the camera is connected to F-cam and I shift to drive. Mode button doesn't do anything.

Seems like it isn't getting power so I'm guessing bad harness or RFCC box.

I installed my camera, Nakita (whatever it is called) the control box and it has worked great for several months now. Until the other day.

    Problem:
The front camera will only turn on for the first start of my truck. Then the rest of the time its black screen of death from there on out

    Symtoms:
    - First start of the truck after sitting (overnight), put the car in drive, camera comes on without a problem and stays on until I turn it off (mode button on steering wheel) or until i hit 20mph or 30 seconds elapses
    - Camera will not come back on if I hit the Mode button twice while driving - goes to black screen
    - Camera will not come back on if I shut the car off, (say go to the store and park the truck) then start it up put it in drive
    - Switching to the rear camera via the Select switch while driving works after hitting mode button - this is a pass through so expected to work as normal
    - Very rarely when I do try to randomly turn on the camera, it will come on for a split second then go to the black screen

    Troubleshooting:
    - Check continuity on the power and ground lines - OK
    - Check for 12v first start - OK
    - Check for 12v after first start - "hit or miss" (hard to measure while truck is on, making sure it doesn't move being in Drive not park, being safe and running multimeter all at the same time)
    - Checked all wires, no shorts, grounds, cuts, nicks
    - Checked Harness - OK
    - Checked control box - 1) when switching to camera using mode - blue lights flash on control box 2) checked the leads/Plugs inside control box

Question: Am I missing anything obvious or not obvious that I should check

    Notes:
    - I ordered a new control box, (holy shit, expensive, since HK is only place its in stock, shipping $$$)
    - I can order a new camera but I believe it to be a power delivery problem
    - My wires in the engine bay are in plastic flexible conduit and have electrical tape in the proper places, wires in the dash are nicely managed (OCD is real)
    - I ditched the stock connectors for the power and ground wires on the harness and used Wago clips to connect the two wires - checked these, nothing wrong there

Thanks for the help / suggestions / ideas

    Update:
    - Camera is working now magically
    - Camera is washed out (image quality)
    - And the camera picture is flipped even though the wire is cut and isolated, no arching between the two cut pieces

Anyone with the previously mentioned keyless lock/unlock issues get them sorted out? Noticed tonight my keyless entry was a little goofy, but haven’t had this installed long enough to figure out a pattern to it. Seems to intermittently not work, but that’s all I’ve narrowed down.

I had my camera installed for about 2 years. The first year works flawlessly, then the second year the front camera would go black more often than usual. I checked all the wires but everything seems to be fine. The front camera would work like 30% of the time. I don't know how reliable this product is and I'm reading that people have the similar problem from this thread.

Just installed mine today and noticed something odd right away. Still need to play with it more. Seems like the is a delay between shutting off the truck and being able to lock it.

That’s sort of what I found, but never figured out any solutions. Just sort of delayed in response and/or you have to wait to lock. Tried the second fob with the same reaction.

I've never noticed that in my 2017. I've had the Germes controller installed for almost 3 years. But I seldom use the remote to lock the truck right after shutting off the engine. If I shut it off and get out planning to lock right away I just use the button on the door panel. That's always been my habit with multiple vehicles.

Another oddness on my 2020 was I had to flip off dip switch 3 to get it to work at all. Noticed that mentioned in another post.

Edit: I think I've figured out the oddness with the key fob. If you back into a parking spot, then turn off the truck there is a delay of 40 second before the fob works again. If you notice, when you put it in park the head unit shows the front camera. You have to wait for that timer it expire, or press the mode button to exit the camera before turning off the truck.

    Wow!

I was thinking of grabbing this kit for my 2020 SR.. now after reading this I'm not sure I trust the longevity of the camera or the compatibility of the kit.

Need to do this. Just trying to decide on head units because the one I just bought already lags with wired car play

installed this last week with Nakita cam. Easy install with Nakita cam, though I did have restrip the power wire on the Nakita cam since it had issues staying on.

I was planning to do this mod but I'm seeing quite a few comments about weird issues and reliability issues. Is there another kit that lets you use the Mode button to activate the front camera or one that doesn't require splicing wires together like the other kit that gives you a dedicated camera button?

Hi, just for clarity, if you attach the trigger wire to a keyed 12v source (in the case of a front camera), you do not need the other red/black wires connected? That was how I was understanding but for the sake of my own clarity, I thought it would be good to validate. My back up camera ended up being plug and play. I am adding a front camera for offroading. This install is the front camera for me. THANKS!

You don't need the red. I don't recall for sure about the black. Try it without.. if it doesn't work, connect it to ground.

I’ve had mine stalled for a year or two now and the front camera works flawlessly. I’m having intermittent rear camera problems. Sometimes it’s black or black with some interference lines and sometimes it works as normal. Anyone had this problem and know where I should look to fix it?

found out one of my wires to connect to the unit was loose. Fix it and it worked great.

Does anyone know if the Anytime front camera kit, harness, etc. will fit behind the head unit fine if there is also a Kicker key amp behind the head unit?

You probably already figured this out, but just in case you're still wondering, yes it will fit but it's a tight fit. You just need to get creative with placement. I have a larger Apline amp in the dash and made it fit, so the Kicker should also leave enough room for the controller and wires.

I've got this same issue and it's annoying. Strangely, it makes no difference whether I hit the mode button to exit or not, I always have to wait about 30-40 seconds to lock my door if I use my camera to park (reverse or forward).
I wonder if toggling the dip switch for the front camera timer to 20 seconds will fix this? I've emailed Germes Labs tech support. Hoping there is a firmware update we can load to fix this. It's the only thing about this system that I don't like.
I'll post their response when I hear back.

I never heard back from their tech support.
I know this works great for a lot of people, but it's a bit too finicky for me. Now I have developed an issue with the key not being detected and the remote lock not working half the time.
In the end, it's not that the camera system doesn't work, but that it interferes with too many other truck functions. The entune 3.0 system talks to everything from the ecu to the tcu, and a lot of other things in between, including the remote and touch lock feature. The fact that this interfaces into the mode control of the entune unit is probably the issue. As for me, I think it's time to pull this out and buy the relay style anytime camera system.
I'm genuinely happy for the folks that got this thing to work for them as it's so convenient to have the steering wheel control integration. Sadly for me, I just can't get it to work right for me.
