I just purchased a 2024 Tacoma TRD Sport. I found out that the front wheels are throwing rocks from the gravel road that I live on damaging the fender in front of the rear wheels on both sides of the truck. The damage is severe, and I've only had it for less than 4 months. To me it appears that the factory mudflaps on the front wheels must be too small. I should be able to take a truck straight from the factory and drive it on a gravel road without it destroying itself. I have a 2008 Tacoma that I purchased new, and I have driven it on gravel for 16 years without any damage.
Any ideas? Anyone else having this problem?

UPDATE: I contacted my Toyota Dealership, and they filed a complaint with Toyota. The dealership stated that Toyota will document my claim and that's it.
I took it to a body shop to get an estimate for the damage. It's going to run me $3,000 to repair the damage.
We decided to add running boards to prevent any further damage. I'll see what happens.

One of my first mods was to protect all forward-facing metal with PPF. Hit it with touch up paint and cover it with PPF.

You'll need to find one of those NHRA pit crews to wipe the tires clean before take off.

Pic from front tire toward rear. Without mud flap or running board, there's a clear line of sight from low-angle rocks kicked from front tire at flared rear tire fenders. Per explanations in the 5pg thread, this happens because of modern aggressively flared designs + more aggressive A/T threads that pick up rocks worse than a pair of On Clouds + tires offset to poke. Doesn't happen so much with flat sided vehicles and passenger tires.

The other visual to consider is the mudspray pattern you get all along the side of your truck from the fronts.

Looks like the little PPF that comes on the truck did not even help! Look at the pictures and you can see the edges of the little bit they put on and it’s even chipped. Thanks a lot of hard driving going on there.

Ooof that's brutal. Worst I've seen by far. I thought I was disappointed about a few chips on my truck but yours looks like it was blasted with an asteroid field

Truly unfortunate... The OEM USA Taco mud flaps are more decorative than functional. The Canadian version is a much better design. I've been trying to buy the Canadian flaps for weeks but can't find them in the USA.

Looks normal to me. Drive on a gravel road and you will sling rocks.

Holy crap that is bad! Gonna need more than touch-up paint there.

Tried, called several and they don't ship to the US (even with the free trade agreement). Although, I found one dealer that allowed me to set up a pick up myself, but the freight cost made it price prohibitive...
