285/70r17 on 4th gen, lift or no lift?

I recently upgraded my wheels & tires for my 24 TRD Sport, its currently on stock suspension right now, +10 offset. Wheels are KMC Riot 17x8.5inch, with BFG KO2 285/70r17
The tires does still poke a little bit, and I just wanted to get some opinions if I should lift it or not.
I do want a more aggressive stance and wanted the front to look more leveled but im afraid lifting might make my tires setup look too small.
Thoughts?

I hate rake!!!
Ive had a westcott lift for 6 months now sitting in the garage...
Due to my paint situation, I waited as I knew truck was going back..
Ide rather even have the front slightly higher than the rear, vs the other way around.
I plan on installing front part of the lift only.

 

Looks perfect dude. Keep it as-is and enjoy the truck.

 

Looks good as is. Once the tires go up in size decreasing the amount of tirein the wheel well the tires start to look too big and the lift will correct some of the too small of a wheel well look.

 

rake beats even the illusion of a dog dragging its ass on the carpet.....Sorry , the front of the truck at most should be barely even with the rear! fight me. 99.995%...street driven truck

 

Does look really good & sexy though, post a pic complete side profile with wheels facing forward....

 

looks good as is, id personally lose the running boards for a more aggressive look.

 

The amount of rake varies between trim levels, I think the SR5 does the most between all of them.
Westcott lift only lifts the rear 3/4 of an inch…
Silver truck is front and rear Westcott left installed.
White truck has just front portion of the Wescott lift installed…
I put in alot of work / research to gather this info...
I know what I’m I’ll be doing…

 

I put a set of those tires on my SR5, had a rubbing problem when turning until I installed a set of fender flares. looks good and because I had to take off the stock mud flaps the tires don't rub when turning any more.

 

That looks perfect! Are those the Rough Country flares? And Falken Wildpeak tires?? I put a set of Wildpeak 265/70/18's but I really wanted the 285's, but I was afraid they would rub without a leveling kit...

 

Did it rub at all with the no lift or did you have to trim

 

The front tires did rub a little although I didn't want to get into lifting the truck just to keep the front tires from rubbing. I had also bought the black fender flairs to try and make sure I wasn't going to throw mud all over the side of the truck in bad weather, since the tires did protrude a little. I had to remove the stock mud flaps to install the flairs and found that in doing so the tires no longer rubbed. I didn't have to trim anything, and my Problem was solved. I am happy with the larger tires and the looks with the new flairs.

 

But what is the offset of your wheels I just got some wheels and I’m trying to fit 285 with the wheels I ordered

FWIW… I have 285/70/17 Wildpeak AT4’s on KMC KM718 Summit 17x8.5 +18 on my SR with no level/lift and I have yet to experience rubbing. I think the +18 offset gives it just the right amount of poke (IMO). Note I live in Tampa and don’t do anything remotely close to off roading (except for the numerous horribly paved roads).

A little story… A few months ago I ordered the Westcott kit as their site indicated it worked with the SR’s leaf spring rear. I even communicated with them and was told the kit would contain blocks and extended u-bolts, even though it wasn’t pictured on their website. I took a chance and ordered and when the kit arrived, sure enough it did NOT have blocks and u-bolts, only the collars for the rear. I spoke with the owner, who was very nice and apologetic (he refunded me completely and even provided a pre-paid shipping label). He confirmed it does not work with the SR and he had his website description updated the next day. Also, even if it did have blocks, it wouldn’t work as the axle is above the leaf spring.

Anyway, the whole point of the above was that when I was speaking with the owner of Westcott I asked about just using their preload collars on the front and skipping the rear. He didn’t really recommend it as it might cause the truck to be raked the wrong way (think Carolina Squat). Plus who knows what that might do with the safety systems???

@slater - I can’t really tell from the pic of the white truck if the front wound up being higher than the rear. Any issues with doing that? I think for me, for now, I’m sticking with my stock suspension and leaving the factory rake. As I look at it more, I find that it looks kinda aggressive.
